Been shopping with them for the past two-and-a-half years, they sometimes get mentioned on here (I posted a grabbit for £12 bath soak they were selling for £1.99 a while ago). There are a few of these expired BBE/end of line/excess stock/liquidated stock type food places but I like AF best. You do need to do a reasonably sized shop to make the best of the P&P charges; they often do offers for postage, the current one is second box free over a certain spend (I forget how much).
You do need to check what you get carefully, the pickers are prone to making mistakes! They will sort out any issues with the order and credit your account where necessary though0 -
If you want to buy in bulk, the same pasta is much much cheaper on Amazon subscribe and save and free delivery (but you have to buy 24).0

I can second that. I've also been using them for around 3 years, and made about 15 orders during that time. I stopped using them out of frustration for a long time, but some of the bargains are just too hard to resist.
In all of my time using them, I can recall only a handful orders that were accurately completed. A classic example of the problem seen is that you order two cases of x and get two packets instead (but pay for two cases). In my last but one order, of the 40 or so items that i ordered, 13 items were sent incorrectly.
Their pickers are phenomenally prone to mistakes. Yes, they always rectify the problem, but it's been too poor for too long.
My advice is to always tick of each item on the packing slip with a pen. I don't recall the packing slip ever being incorrect.
In response to an earlier post. Someone asked about their Nouvelle toilet rolls. On the surface they seem about as good a bargain as you can get from the supermarket, when they have a promotion on something - say 9 rolls for £3.00. I have bought them from AF several times, but the last time i noticed that the inner tube was very large, when compared to a normal roll. So i checked the package for what you actually get. It works out significantly less overall actual tissue than a standard Tesco or Andrex roll. So i won't be buying any more.0 -
I have been using AP for a while now and I am more than happy with what I have received.
Twice I have had to raise a ticket - leaked item in one and missing item in another, and both times, this has been resolved very quickly. The way I see it is, these things happen.
When using Sainsburys, I would have missing items, or something may have broken. It's no different.
My aim is to no longer use the supermarket. M&M for bread / milk, butchers for meat, local veg and fruit delivery.
The only gripe I do have is, when I really like a product and then it's sold out!!!!! Seriously though, no complaints here.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
Got my second order today - it was like christmas!!!!
Two items had gone out of stock since ordering and they emailed before delivery arrived and offered to credit my account. I emailed yesterday and said I'd rather have a refund and today Paypal confirmed they had done it so can't complain.
Got some great bargains fr stock cupboard and some nice treats for DD birthday party this weekend.
Really impressed and have saved a fortune.Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Second order yesterday, complete, on time and perfect condition. I ordered a LOT of these sharwood wrap kits, BBE August http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/?pid=49538
Just broken them down to freeze the wraps and found that although the pack is BBE August, the wraps are October 2012, the salsa is March 2013 and no BBE at all on the dry spice mix - 60p a pack for 8 wraps plus the salsa and spice, very chuffed!!“D’you know what a loser is?

Just an update, had another order, but there was one item missing and one glass jar cracked and leaking despite being in bubble wrap. Was credited with a refund on account within 24 hrs which is fine as I intend to do more orders before crimbo. TBH can't believe its taken me so long to order with them lol.
Part of our new shed (to replace the garage for storage-which is being converted to a 4th bedroom for eldest son), is given over to shelving for my food store. The kids used to call the garage mums shop at christmas when I stocked up, but the shed looks fuller and fuller-OH jokes I am like one of those americans on NG channel and am a "doomsday prepper" with enough stock to feed us for yonks lol.
I just like to buy stuff on offers so when prices shoot up or we get snowed in, or now OH is self employed we get a bad month. We can still cover the bills and eat "for free" from the stores.

I placed an order Tuesday which was over £30 (my first order so delivery was free). today i received an emailed saying the thorntons chocs 250g were no longer in stock, I ordered 5 boxes, £1.99 each so total of £9.95 for the chocs. The email said they owed me 99p!! and would give me £1 as a goodwill gesture. Then under this it said £1.09 would be credited to my approved food account.
I can't see how this can be right.
Do approved foods answer the ticket system well for contacting them or is there a phone number to ring.
Any help appreciated.0 -
