My bee heat pad caught fire in the microwave

The turntable wasn't on properly, so it didn't spin, and his bum must have got too hot. Before I could rescue him there were flames  He's now spending his Christmas in the bin :(

A while back I asked about pillows for neck pain. (well, to support my neck) I was advised to get a V pillow. I got one for Christmas and it's wonderful.:j

Mine wasn't in there too long. It was his first go that day so he was cold, and he'd only been in there about 30 seconds. But because the plate wasn't spinning the heat must have all congregated on his bottom :(

Luckily as soon as I stopped the microwave he stopped burning, and then I took him straight out to the bin in a carrier bag - I suppose it wasn't the best idea as it could have melted, but luckily it didn't!

Thanks. I haven't spent my DLA money yet and just looked it up, it looks like it could really help my sleep as although I don't get much neck pain, if I am not positioned right with a pillow I find the rest of my body sort of kinks out of place.

I must have been very good this year as I got lots of lovely presents including a wheat bag and weekly anabox dispenser. I also got a box set of national geographic DVDs and Medium season 5 which will stop my mind going insane on the days that I have to spend in bed :j

I've slept so much better since using the v pillow.:)

  • Good evening! :) Had to pop in for a calming cuppa after reading the last few posts on the Blue Badge thread! In case anyone is thinking of buying one and not sure, I got my husband one of the tilt and relax armchairs a few months ago, and it's brilliant.

He has so much trouble pushing himself up, as his arm muscles are weak, and this has been the answer to a prayer. Well worth the money. I chose a fabric that went well with our 3 piece suite, and ordered an extra couple of metres of material.

I cut this in half, hemmed it, and stitched one piece to the back and another to the seat, so that when these get grubby, I can wash them. :)

    xx

I wouldn't be without my V pillow...had one for over 14 years (got it for breastfeeding of all things) and it has been a godsend over the years.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • I was wondering what DLA is assessed on?

    Care for that person?
  • CurrentWorker There are two parts of DLA; one is for Mobility and one is for Care. They are both based on the needs of the disabled person.

The link gives an introduction to DLA.

Care they need - they don't need to be getting that care. It just has to be reasonable that they need it.
