If you need to see a GP, you need to and some people need to go often like my husband does and if he was wasting her time our GP would tell him so!
But as you have already said, your husband is very ill.
Thanks for all the advice on wheelchairs, it's invaluable. I have to make an appointment with another GP (mine is popular and only works part time so it's a 3 week wait) as my tramadol script is all screwed up so i could ask them to refer me if its just a weight/height thing.0 -
It's funny how we don't like to "bother" our GPs unless we have a couple of things to go about. I'm the same. I save them up saying to myself it's not worth just going for xyz, but a "normal" person wouldn't think twice about going just for one thing. I waited years (partly coz I kept forgetting to mention it) about problems with really itchy and weeping ears and it turned out I have excema that was infected. Coupld of weeks worth of ab cream and infection was cleared and I now use vaseline on them every day. Anyone else would have been down there like a shot but with the myriad of other things we suffer from, something like that fades into insignificance.
Good luck with the wheelchair referral. Sunnyone That advice is like a roadmap for someone who needs to get from stage 1 of referral to getting a suitable chair! Fantastic! I'll pass it on to a couple of people in need that I know if you don't mind?I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Auntie Axe, I've only just caught up with the thread (things a bit fraught here) - so sorry to hear about your Dad's Greyhound. (((HUG)))If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

I just had my appointment with legal aid, apart from the hassle of trying to prove i am eligible for the aid the meeting went well. She said she was going to fax the GL-something-or-other appeal form off today so I should hear within a few days, and be reinstated on to assessment rate within a couple of weeks. She also said I need to ring DLA and ask for my doctors factual report, and ring ESA and ask for a copy of the medical assessment. Finally, things are in motion.0

I found it calmed me down greatly to be able to do focussed tasks in preparation of DLA Tribunal. You feel like you are actively fighting rather than sitting and being beaten iyswim?
You certainly sound calmer.
My meeting with Welfare Rights Officer has been put back to early January as a slight cold means that pneumonia has me firmly in its grip again. Annoying, but I shall rest more this time and try and shake it off completely.
My Tribunal date isn't til March so I don't feel so pushed to get things done.
Can't decide whether to have cup of tea or a bath so think I shall do both! Knitting will get slightly soggy, so I'll take a book with me *g*I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

It makes me feel better to know that things are happening, and someone is on my side for once. I've always had to fight these sorts of things on my own and it's very draining. To have the support and advice of people here and someone official who had seen tons of clients with similar problems really helps. :j
I hope the cold doesn't get to you too much. A warm bath sounds like the ideal thing to keep the pneumonia away.0 -
Merry Christmas everyone and a healthy new year.:A0

Trialia, I found that the shower in my wet room is so powerful that I don't need to use my hands much after just getting the shampoo/conditioner on - my hair is practically combed by the water! (mine's not quite as long as yours, but that's only because I got someone to take the kitchen scissors to it as I was having so many problems getting it clean in the old flat). Is it possible that you could get something like that installed, if you don't already?
It is so nice actually being able to keep clean. But it costs a fortune in shampoo/conditioner and showergel, as I never needed to replace it this much before
Dry shampoo left me brushing frantically to get the residue off - which is quite hard with a dodgy shoulder or two
Anything that leaves me with enough strength to play my bass is a good thing, and the shower does that more than most things Especially as the bass helps exercise and strengthen my entire upper body, which then helps stabilise the joints. It makes dealing with the meds and the peuky feeling everything gives me (is there a special offer out on olanzaprazole at the moment? I've just been given it, too) more tolerable if I know that I can carry on playing as a result.
Although having said that, I do hurt today, which may have something to do with me nailing 'Lovely Day', 'Say A Little Prayer', 'Man of the World' and 'Pinball Wizard' this week :J: Must remember to rest - ulnar nerve impingement is the last thing I need added to the list.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
