Oh begger. Sheer panic then? Tis scary when you find you don't have something you really need. If it's Omeprazole you have, I agree! Take up far too much room in my meds bag *g*I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

It was less panic and more anger actually, yet another thing to do that could have been avoided. And yes, those are the ones that scared the bejeebus out of me, sometimes i think theyre trying to make us even more ill just for the heck of it.
On the plus side I am sleeping in what is to be my new room (eventually) for the first time, as I've found a temporary mattress while my supa-dupa new one comes from mars or somewhere equally far as estimated delivery is 4-6 weeks. I LOVE my new room, I mean I should do, I took months deciding exactly what I wanted and where, carefully working everything out, but it's still lurrrvely. Now I just need to move my stuff in and find lovely things to hang on the wall.0 -

Course I don't mind. I did all the medical forms, eventually got an OT assessment, as well as GP and consultant letters, plus I harassed them via Directors of Housing/MPs/asking questions in council meetings/etc once it had got past a joke with the silly offers. The one thing I avoided doing was humiliating myself in the local rag, as that's a recipe for abuse from random strangers.
Give them absolutely anything and everything, as they won't read between the lines, only when it is made clear to them that your health is being damaged by the present unsuitable accommodation will they categorise you as having your health damaged, for example.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
All quiet on the western front here, went to play golf with the boys yesterday where they insisted on treating me like some invalid...mind you, I would have struggled without the help but I wasn't about to let them know that!
Hand specialist has resent the letter for the school letting them know that eldest needs to use a laptop in lessons and exams...blasted school had lost all the paperwork and were being awkward about allowing him the use and then had the teachers being grossed out by eldest dislocating fingers whilst writing.
Now busy preparing for Christmas....and a wedding. My brother is getting married on Christmas eve, so we are busy, busy, busy.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Had a financial assessment from the care agency to whom I've been transferred, on Friday. The lady who came said that as I'm on Income Support and low care DLA, I won't have to contribute, which is a help. She also said that she's got experience with helping complete DLA forms for people and did I want the help, as I should be eligible for MRC in my condition? So I said yes. That'll be very helpful...
Last concert of the year with Roundelay was this morning; went just fine, despite there only being nine of us who made it in (four sopranos, two altos including me, two basses and a tenor!).Tuesday is the carol concert with my other choir (the one that's only ever together for this Christmas concert) and then I'll be done for the year, and can more or less hibernate. Goodness knows I'll need it! Low on spoons and conserving them as best I can.

What would I get?
A new bed with a memory foam mattress to help my aching joints.
A tipper kettle
A new computer chair with proper support
One of the swizzly things you can put on your car seat to help you to turn and get out of/into the car.
Hand rails for getting up the stairs.
One of those grippy things for taking my jeans off at night and my legs/back are refusing to bend, or for picking up things from the floor.
A new V pillow to make for more comfortable sitting in bed or sleeping when joints are aching (my one is about 14 years old now!)
More wheat bags.
A step to help get into and out of the bath.
Erm....not sure what else.
Mind you, it would require me to admit that I have a disability for me to actually apply and right now, my head says no and hopes it is just temporary and if by some miracle, I wake up one morning absolutely fine.
When I got my backdated DLA a couple of weeks back I got a memory foam mattress topper, a Slanket, some extra thick thermal socks, a Breville Hot Cup kettle (We fill as required using a plastic jug then just press a button and it boils enough water for your cup of tea/coffee etc - even hubby & son like it!), plus a few other wee odds and ends to make life a bit easier.
Has your GP not referred you to OT? I had a visit a couple of weeks ago and have since had grab rails fitted at the front door and on my staircase plus a toilet frame (waaay too big for our bathroom) and a bed lever (again it's way too big and I can feel it under the mattress). I've also to get a bath lift fitted as well. Hubby about had kittens when he saw the size of the toilet frame "it's not staying!" - a grab rail would be sufficient. The OT is coming out later in the week to re-assess the toilet frame & staircase grab rail (it sticks out too far and has already caused an accident). OT said they no longer supplied things that help with getting dressed so I'll need to have a look at what's available.
I'm needing a swivel thingy for my car seat as well cos it's getting to be a real pain and quite a struggle to get in the car these days.0 -
Nope, no referral to OT, we have only just got to the stage of a referral to Rheumi after approx 8 months with the physio....although not sure I would be comfortable with one anyway, I would have to admit to needing some help. I'm a stubborn begger and prefer to find my own ways around things rather than asking for help.
I suppose I am also concerned about asking for help as I am a divorced parent and carer to disabled children and whether this would be held against me as not being able to cope with the boys (I have heard some scare stories)...I would rather prefer to stay off the radar to be honest just to be on the safe side.
I haven't applied for DLA (and I won't until I see myself as disabled) so my list is just a wishlist of what I would spend money on if I could afford it.We made it! Hey, BZ good to see you. Stay bug-free, if you possibly can.;)
Thanks for the thought tho
I want a Slanket too - have asked MIL for one for ChrimboFigured it was better than a (rather hideous) clashing quilt being downstairs all the time, esp as it doesn't cover my arms if I want to use them for anything.
Have also asked for the Fibro Clinic I've been at in the last few months to refer me to an OT - mainly to see what they could offer me, if I'm honest. I can but try
Also going back to physio tomorrow, having had a break from it while at Fibro Clinic. When I rang to book an appt my physio was unknown to them, turns out she's gone elsewhere, and left a note in my file saying I'd be returning in a month - which given it was her idea to take the break while doing the clinic, and the clinic was 6-12wks, is a smidge ridiculous  - so they'd kicked me off their lists and wanted me to get a referral from the GP ...which would've incurred another 6-9month waiting list... needless to say I kicked off, and an appt was arranged within 2wks
Note to self: must investigate dry shampoo
p.s. FP glad you got the DLA. Shame about the ESA - though it's more likely to be turned over given your DLA outcome, I would've thought. I'm still awaiting tribunal for my DLA decision...my helper at the CAB reckons it could be autumn next year before they get round to me *roll eyes*:rotfl:"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

Thanks. I feel really guilty when I hear everyone else's horror stories, I don't feel like I deserve it.
I meant to ask on here, what do people think I should do in regards to my ESA? I've got an appointment with the law firm on friday, I thought there was no point in them looking at my case again as the 'medical' was clearly flawed for me to get 0 points and thats what they would go on, but now I have been awarded DLA will that be enough to change their minds? Can I do both processes at the same time? How do I ask for them to reconsider, does it have to be in writing or can I phone up? I know the appeal has to be in writing. ...
*remembers to breathe*
phew, that was a lot of questions, but its all playing on my mind.0
