Saw neuro this morning - I need to have botox (as mentioned by GP) but also got told they now do it in Plymouth.

I get botox in my jaw (for TMJ) every 3-4 months, my next Neuro appointment is Wednesday coming. I have to travel 25 miles or so to Edinburgh to get mine.

The needles used are very, very fine, I don't often feel the injection unless Doc times the sticking of the needle in just as my jaw goes into spasm and then it's only momentarily sore.

After the first injection it seemed to take a few weeks for me to really get the benefit of it and I can always tell when it's wearing off (my Neurologist wants the botox to start wearing off quite a before giving me the next jab).

I certainly couldn't do without it as it makes a huge difference to me - for one thing, I'd have to live on mushed up food all the time :( .

Hope all goes well with your botox treatment, I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I was told yesterday that it is something that I will have to have done over again. (because the effects aren't permanent) Do you mind me asking how often you have yours done?

I have to admit, it's not something I want done - but it's either that or pain.

    Morning all!

As always my thoughts are with all of you who are having a tough time. I've been catching up with the thread but like BZ can't remember all the posts . .

I've had an exciting and inspiring time over the last month or so. The 'move' was huge in the end - really stressful and such hard work but worth it. I'm still not completely 'straight' but getting there!

The stress brought on a bit of anxiety and the physical hard work caused a lot of joint problems but on the plus side I've lost a fair bit of weight (over half a stone in about 5 weeks). I'm sat here in my fabulously huge kitchen with the back door open, listening to the birds. The kids and cats are all happy and settled, I see favourite niece and and the baby all the time - he's such a jolly little soul who is guaranteed to brighten my day and best of all exSIL hes just been down for a week. She's amazing - I love her to pieces. She's gone home with the intention of packing everything up and moving down here!! (This will undoubtedly cause ructions in the 'family' but its something we discussed over the years but now the time is right)

I'm planning ahead for the first time in a long time - I'm sure many of you will relate to how hard is it is to even make it to the end of one day let alone next week or next month.

    Best wishes
    Jenni x

  • Hi All,
    How are you doing?

Diet gone out the window and I'm high on sugar today.... ate an almond magnum for breakfast, 4 yum yums, a half of 230g big bar of fruits & nuts chocolate, a banana, tea.... don't think I've eaten anything decent..... I can't rememberrrrr. I just keep telling myself "it will pass..."

It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

I am so looking forward to (or hanging on to the prospect :)) of being in your position - I'm still surrounded by chaos and disaster and malfunctioning smoke alarms, and I haven't even moved yet!

Needs must and I go on Wednesday for my injection - the 3rd this year, I usually get them every 4 months. When I first got them it was every 3 months but the Neurologist I see doesn't like you to have too much botox in your system so likes to have it wear off a bit before the next one.

Last year he decided I should wait 5 months in between jabs but by the time January came along I was ready for decking him for all the pain & discomfort I'd been in over Christmas/New Year (could hardly eat or talk). He's been told in no uncertain terms I won't go that long between jabs ever again!:naughty:
  • Well only 2 days to go before D (decision) day & i'm a complete nervous wreck. _pale_

    I can't eat, can't sleep, can't think, can't concentrate, can't keep off the loo & feel sick. :(

I hope to god that I don't have to go to court as I really don't think I will be able to handle another couple of years like this.

Fingers crossed I will be able to come back in a couple of days with good news. _party_

I hope everyone is well & that the recent cold weather isn't causing people too many problems?

Take care everyone, see you in a couple of days. :A
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
