I can understand why you would feel irritated!
Has your dad got a living will? If so, you could use that to re-instate his wish.
No living will but I have been responsible for his health and consent issues since the catastophic stroke in 2007. Even before then the original hopsital required me to attend all his appointments with him as a 'carer' (I don't mean that in any official sense ) as he was always so terrified of hospitals it was a struggle to even get his blood taken and i was there merely to stop him running away.
It is fully noted in his records that he has declined consent for this op previously and my outside the home work revolves around this type of things and I had not realised how much strain people were put under by hospital staff mis representing the consent rules.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I know it probably doesn't apply to all occasions but if hospital setting upsets him when taking blood sample, have you thought about it being taken at the gp's surgery by a nurse? Just a thought because quite often, nurses don't wear white coatMoney is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Actually since he has been in a 24 hours care home things have been much easier as everyone comes to him. They take his blood in the home, do all his checks and administer all his jabs and things whilst he is in his favourite chair being distracted by the care staff.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That sucks Soolin. I dread MIL getting to that point...but on the other hand, I hope she lives that long. She's 64 now and has super-dodgy health (and we have to step in enough even though she's "of sound mind") ...another couple of decades seems more than unlikely:o"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0

Haha, I *wish* that was what I was recouping spoons from!!:rotfl:
Hope you (LW) and SS feel better soon.
MIL's moving day tomorrow! Not gonna be able to move next week, never mind walk! And AF will be visiting shortly too...
I haven't had a visit from AF for 15 months now - hoping she's gone away for good. *crosses fingers*
Soolin what a bloomin' palaver! Why on earth can't they accept that he doesn't want what is, after all, a pretty major procedure, and let him be?If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Ello all
Have been absent for a while dealing with Real Life and all its pitfalls.
Soolin, you have my sympathy. Awful situation.
JoJo, really hoping the house works out for you.
LW, hope you enjoyed all your furry visitors.
I'm really, really struggling at the moment. Got turned down for DLA without even a medical. I know I shouldn't have (particularly in the current political climate), but I was really counting on it to solve some problems.

Another nigh tin hospital last night, a specialist centre this time for an unrelated matter. Absolute shambles though, no staff, not even obs done and no notes about anything.
He's now got a catheter which means i'm struggling to get him back to his residential home as they have no nursing staff, hospital don't care, Dad appears to be just an annoyance now.
I feel so guilty as I don't know how to make this better for him.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin, it will do no good to say it I know, but you aren't responsible for making it all OK and have no need for guilt. However, you are obviously doing your best in very difficult circumstances. Time to talk to your MP? Or contact PALS for the centre he is in?
sorry, brain all over the place at the mo, so probably not puttin things in the right way.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
The home can't take Dad back, apparently he's on a trolley somewhere the hospital don't want him and the home has no nursing staff to take anyone with a catheter.
I can't even find out from the hospital where he is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
