As for the gloves, they did look brilliant - I tried them on and everything but as I don't self-propel, and DH said he wouldn't have a use for them, I left them... I didn't think about using them with the crutches though! duh.gif

Yeah, I see what you mean. I won't be using the chair unless DH is there to push it though (I only use the self propel wheels for just manoeuvring along an ailse or something I'm looking at but he's not, iyswim)

I cant self propel or grip anything but like you I can use my palm to change direction in a store and I also use powerchairs so a decent pair of cycling/wheelchair to hold the wheels/controls really help and Ive paid much, much more for worse gloves in the past and these are good enough for full time propelling/crutching in my experiance, they are a real bargain.

OMG that looks perfect for what I need! How did you get social services to pay for it? Can it be uninstalled and transfered to another bath easily? (I'm hoping to move and the OT said she didn't want to do anything expensive that couldn't be moved) Currently I haven't washed since saturday because I just couldnt face trying to get myself in and out of the bath. I got a bath board, but it still means getting down and up from it on to the board it's self and thats just really difficult and dangerous.

I bought a bath board 2years ago, this is much better. I had an OT come do an assessment and she suggested it. I explained it had to be fairly simple to get in and out as there's a shower over our bath and DH obviously doesn't need the hoist, and this is what they sent over for me. It lives in our spare room until I need it and DH sets it up. He says it's easy to do and not too heavy either. It essentially sits on rubber feet your bath -no installation required

Sounds to be very similar to the one that's (hopefully) arriving here next Friday.:j

I use them to stop Mr LW from moving the chair when he's finished looking at whatever-it-is and I haven't. Last time I did this was at a medieval fair, and I was still examining the rather fine sword that the chappie in the armour was wielding, and poor Mr LW could not fathom why the chair wouldn't move. It didn't dawn on him that I had hold of the self-propel wheels. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!!:D

Thanks. This sounds like exactly what i need. The OT was really nice and helpful and I still have her contact details so hopefully if I give her a ring she will come out and see if it's suitable. I'll put it on my list of things to do :j

I have changed my mattress and now my back pain is less :D

But in bad news, my bird has realised he can fly. I've had him for over a year and he's never been interested before but now he keeps flying and landing on high things. And I can't get him down without jumping on furniture - which I can't :(

Does anyone have nerve pain/damage here? I have a nasty old cold just now and it's making my sciatic nerve "jangle" and not sure if it's because of the cold or because I've done something?

Yep, in my lower back, and it always gets worse when I'm run-down.

Sorry something else - I can't take anything with paracetamol such as lemsips etc have been taking my usual meds with paracetamol in and ibuprofen as normal, and drinking hot honey and lemon in fruity green tea - anything else I could be using?
