I did a very un-moneysaving thing on friday, I bought a Wii! .. and wii fit and a board. Oops!
There is some wisdom behind this splashing of cash though, I have wanted one since they first came out, but more importantly I've heard that the wii fit can help gain muscle strength even in people with limited mobility.. I really need to start doing some exercise on a regular basis and I thought I'd cracked it with the disabled swimming sessions in the morning but my body decided to go back to the usual horrible sleep patterns that mean I can't garantee I will be awake before mid day, so instead of doing nothing and wasting away I have given myself no get-out clause by having it all set up in my living room. :T
Unfortunately, I haven't got rid of this stinking cold yet so I don't think it's a good idea to start exercising until that is out of the way. I have, however used the mario kart game that came with the bundle and that's muchly fun-ness :rotfl:
I haven't been super silly with my money, I still have a little bit in my account that is more than enough to live on until next wednesday, as long as I don't want to do anything expensive during that time.
On another plus note, my Timmy did amazingly well at dog training yesterday, he is starting to learn flyball and he did brilliantly, one of the best in the class! It's such a massive thing because your dog has to pick up a ball/toy from the hole and Timmy just doesn't respond to any toys, he won't pick them up or even sniff them, except this one particular one (which I happened to have with me yesterday) that he associates with food and it did the trick, I couldn't believe it! :j He ran so fast, and so far, and just responded brilliantly. Unfortunately he has almost torn the thing to bits as it's his favourite and now I'm hunting for a new one.
Anyway, that's a huge update from me. Back to bed now!0 -
FP some encouragement for you: I've been using Wii Fit since January 2010; since the start, I've lost two and a half stone, and (please don't laugh at this bit) I can open the vents at the top of the patio doors that I have been unable to open myself for the nine years I've lived here!:rotfl:
I suggest taking baby steps with it - experiment, find out what you enjoy doing, and don't go at it like the proverbial bull at that gate.:D
Fwiw, I do half an hour of yoga with just a couple of the muscle exercises incorporated every day (includes the Tricep Extension, which is what I think has enabled me to deal with the vents!:D) and if time and spoons allow, I try for another half hour of general whatever-I-fancy-doing of the aerobic, balance and extra training.
Good luck.
Oh, and well done Timmy! I love watching Fly-ball, it always looks like the dogs are having such fun!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
SingleSue I'm tempted to say Pot...Kettle...Black... As in have you applied for that Blue Badge yet??;)
I don't know how you can get a 17 year old to listen to his Mum, to be honest; imho with men generally, the trick is to make them think the course of action you want them to take was their idea to start with. No idea how you'd achieve that in this instance though.
Erme I sympathise; I've suffered nightmares for most of my life. Horrid things!
I'm 'orribly tired today; but it's OK, I just used up most of today's spoons last night, is all. We saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean film at the cinema, as Mr LW was on early shift yesterday.:) Also went to the bank and ordered our Euros for our trip to Belgium later in the month - had to do it early, as I can only get into town when he's available to take me, and he's only got one more early shift (next Monday) before our holiday, so we'll actually collect the Euros then.
Next Wednesday we have my little mate Sidney coming to stay for 10 days:T - for newer people to the thread, I do dog-sitting, and Sidney is a Miniature Schnauzer with diabetes; he's stayed with us twice before, and he's a lovely little chap.:o
Thanks. I was psychotic on Saturday evening with the lack of sleep then slept for 15 hours ...however last night was just 4 so I suspect very little is going to get done today...I don't know if I will make therapy group @1.30pm....My legs feel like jelly ..to make matters worse I've lost 101 things (eg. bike pump; £20 note etc) all of which I needed about a week ago and like I have no hope of finding them when this tired
...Never mind eating :rotfl: or cooking for self (*what's that?*)

Thinking about it, an easier option is for us all to regularly pester her about it and then she might do it just to get us off her back
Tehehehe, love you really Sue:T :A

What constitutes as "the last BMI index to be allowed it by keyhole"? I did ask if my size would matter to what he was talking about doing, and he said no it would be no problem, but considering they won't do a laparoscopy cos I'm supposedly some giant heiffer...
And yes, rice cakes have just set me off fps
ETA: how long were you on the waiting list for the op jodie?
Understandable
Sorry, just read this - at the time, i was about 19-20st and was told i was on the last bmi point - think it was about 40-45bmi.
I waited about 3 months for my op, which was hell but i found the best thing was take a indegestion remidie as soon as the burning started, sat still upright, and getting my oh to rub my back (like you wind a baby), strange but worked for me - maybe it was the distraction!Ok, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!:eek:0 -

Wow, that's great!
I don't think I'll be able to do it every day, certainly not to start with, but twice a week for half an hour is a realistic goal for me at the moment. I didn't buy the Wii for weight loss, because I need to be a lot more active to even think about losing weight through excercise but what I thought it might do is give me the muscle tone and stamana to be able to start exercising properly, and hopefully on my feet for longer on crutches... But the fact you have lost that much weight by doing 30mins every day actually gives me hope that I could also start loosing weight very slowly with the twice a week regime and that would start a positive cycle. I need to lose a lot of weight, but whenever I have done it before I have lost a lot quickly, and put it back on, I now know that I need to do it very slowly to help me make it a life long thing.
... And no I'm not just saying 'oh poor me i'm so fat' My BMI is something like 50 and having EDS (a joint condition, essentially) means I need to be at a healthy-ish weight, realistically I won't ever get down to what the NHS says is a healthy weight, but my eventual goal is 35. We'll see!0 -
Don't forget, too, FP, that muscle weighs heavier than fat, so don't get discouraged if your weight seems to actually increase - it'll likely be a sign that you're toning up!
Another fwiw - I don't seem to fall over quite as often or as easily as I used to!:)
I have to go now - into town to do a gazillion errands.:(If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I'm a zombie about to fall over...supper is 2 litres of Vimto and an egg :rotfl:..
Sound familiar? And now they have microwave pizza cookers in the pound shop :j
Happy days

Yes, I don't intend on weighing myself until I've noticed some changes in my shape and how my clothes fit.
Here's hoping!
Tonight I feel quite good as I've been making jewellery and have updated my facebook page and I'm getting lots of lovely comments too :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon everyone
Sorry haven't been back for a couple of days, as I said in my last post I was coming out of my medication stupor. Oh how wrong I was..lol. It has returned again. I think it didn't help that I was told that I have to take it all in one go at night instead of spread out during the day. It doesn't help me at all, I sleep for England now, and have memory loss like a goldfish. I am constantly forgetting everything, conversations to making a cup of tea etc...There is more but it would take forever to list it..lol My poor DH is finding it hard as he is constantly having to remind me of everything now, as well as having me ringing him up at work 4 times a day asking stupid questions..lol Also for some reason my paranoia has got considerably worse since being on this new dosage, it's not nice.
Have a mental health review at my Drs this afternoon, bit useless if you ask me as I am under the care of my psych and the mental health team. I had to fight through the receptionist the other day to get a Drs appt for my prescription which was due to run out in two days. Silly twit told me that I would have to wait until today to get my pills - errr what bit of "mood stabilisers" did she not understand, come to think of it what bit of mental health does she not understand? Anyway eventually I got her to get my Dr to ring me, and bless him he didn't hesitate to give me the script. Only thing is I found out I am only allowed two weeks at a time..ugh!! Apparently I flagged as high risk or something on the computer..
Oh well suppose I had better get dressed and go and make yet another cup of tea, this is the 3rd one that I have forgotten about this morning..
Hope everyone is doing okay, hugs and spoons to all xxxMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️
