I had my gallbladder out about 3 years ago - it was the best thing in the world, the pain before it was unbearable, and even a salad was kicking it off.
I was lucky, as i was on the last bmi index to be allowed it by keyhole at the time, and i was done as a day case so the whole thing only lasted about 8 hours.
I was fine afterwards and needed no extra medication for pain(although admittedly i take a lot anyway) and was properly up and moving in about 5 days. Trust me the relief was AMAZING!
What constitutes as "the last BMI index to be allowed it by keyhole"? I did ask if my size would matter to what he was talking about doing, and he said no it would be no problem, but considering they won't do a laparoscopy cos I'm supposedly some giant heiffer...
And yes, rice cakes have just set me off fps:angry:

ETA: how long were you on the waiting list for the op jodie?

Thanks guys, I understand all that and have said I don't expect him to give everything up but just to use supports to protect his joints a little more while he is doing it, so that the damage is not as great.
    Understandable
I know there was no way on earth you could have stopped me doing all I did at his age...hell, I still push the boundaries of my body now, refusing to give in to it and he is very like me in that respect but I do wish I had known what damage I had been doing back then and I may have taken some (very small knowing me) steps to prevent some of it. In me, he can see where he is going to end up, in fact, end up sooner than I have as his joints are way worse than mine were at his age.
But you could be taking some steps NOW to be preventing some of it. You know where it could end up if you continue to push and be "a stubborn beggar" but you're still doing it... :naughty:
If you won't lead by example...why should he follow?

Perhaps find out where she lives, make a vist on mass with pre printed application forms and hold her hostage until they are filled out? :rotfl:

Thinking about it, an easier option is for us all to regularly pester her about it and then she might do it just to get us off her back :D

Tehehehe, love you really Sue <3 :T :A

Thanks guys...I am moving forward, I brought up the details of where to apply on the computer, Ok, I then navigated away from it again but it is a step closer.:rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

My urgent spinal clinic came through in well under a week and I dont want to go, I hate going and I know they will want to do more urinary dynamic tests which are about the worst test Ive ever had and Ive had hundrends and hundreds of tests.

Im feeling very ill at the thought of it, I canceled my last spainal clinic appointment and ignored the letter asking me to make a new one, I go to all my other appointment just not this one.

My urgent scan is on the 13th, two weeks to the day it was requested and I dont mind going to that, I'll do ten if the nasty Neuros and Orthapods dont get me in a room fighting them both off at once and bully me into treatment that i dont want.

Call them and make a fuss?
Get DH to call them and make a fuss?
Ask if you can get in on a cancellation? (Assuming you could get there at short notice).
Their idea of "urgent" and mine are two different things!
Am  on your behalf, BZ.

I know what you mean about urgent apppointments. My son had an operation Saturday and the dressing needs changing today and I cannot get an appoinment anywhere.

I've just told hospital I'll attempt it myself which they do not advise and just suggest I try walk in clinics in other boroughs that may be able to see him, but to basically just drive him around until I can find a nurse. If I was just a little bit braver I would take son to GP surgery and change the dressing myself in the waiting room and if they asked me what I was doing I would just point out that I was nervous about doing it and as I couldn't find any one mdically qualified to do it as I was told to I thought I should at least be on surgery grounds in case I do it wrong and need assistance.

I also needed an urgent appointment for the resutls of my MRI (I was advised to see my GP within 5 days) , eventually got one beginning of July and that has been cancelled and it looks like I won't be sene until end July beginning of August.
