s.morris, do you just use 1 x 7g packet of dried yeast per 500g of flour for all recipes??
    And approx. 315ml of water??
    How much oil??

    Thanks,

    Lynsey

I've made 2 bread mixes and a cake mix so far but I'm just about to set it up to bake my usual and very used 'normal' bread recipe. I use

    150 ml cold water
    50 ml milk
100 ml of hot water (but will prob use 250 cold water and 50 ml milk seeing as it's standing overnight)
    About 1 tsp honey/sugar
    About 1 tbs olive oil
7 gms of salt (1 lvl tsp weighs 10 gm if your scales aren't digital, normal recipe says 10 gms but it's a little too salty for my taste)
    500 gms strong flour
    5 gms of yeast

Put in, in that order and set to be ready for when I wake up.

I'm not sure if you should add more liquid when it's a bread maker but this recipe has never let me down in the oven before. HTH

Thanks, so the 300ml-315ml sounds right. I'll try 300ml and a little oil first to see how it goes.

LOL oh yeah :o that makes complete sense now you mention it :rotfl: I doubt it'll make much difference what kind of oil you use. BTW in case of copyright issue things this is an adapted recipe from the River Cottage Bread book.

I'd appreciate these too, baby is wheat and gluten free so need to start baking everything as when we get it from dr's we have to order batches of 8 loaves!!

My friend uses this brand of flour as think her daughter has similar allergies, hope it's useful

  • Have you checked out their kitchen stuff... loads seems to be reduced... loads of bargains.... I only went in for the breadmaker and came out with over £150.00 worth as such good bargains... even picked myself up a vacuum cleaner for the kids room at £15.00 each i have put one in each of their rooms.... saves my lifting up the dyson to their rooms... you can never see the floor anyway... but it picks up really well.. kids are loving the novelty of having their own vacuum... who said child labour was illegal!!! Works for me and they are chuffed to bits when their rooms are clean and tidy... WIN WIN for mummy!! :T

When I go to the basket confirmation page, and click the 'Checkout' button, it just refreshes the page. Help anyone? :o
