Fankoooooooo OP for posting this. :j fankoo so much!

I had loads of flours in stock cos i was trying to do my own sourbread, but the starter didnt work (8yr old was 'helping')...

Ive been saving Argos vouchers from a survey site and wanted to get a breadmaker for ages and ages but at 13.99 this baby was too good to miss, I was over the moon when I picked one up today from Keighley store!!! (It kind of almost felt wrong buying it this cheap if you get what i mean)?

As I type its churning away with the ingredients for a light wholemeal loaf - will let you know how it turns out.

Now...... where to hide it from the other half til he is in a good enough mood to see it.......
Logic will get you from A to B but imagination can take you anywhere!
Being honest may not get get you a lot of friends - but it will get you the right ones.

    Absolutely perfect. :j :j

I've just had my first slice with butter.

The setting and water amount worked a treat and really tasty and crunchy bread.
Off to get some more bread mixes now to try others, but highly recommened the Wright's cheese and onion.

One small issue, the paddle was lodged into the bottom crust, but I just carefully sliced and gently pulled it away.

    Happy baking.

hi there, i reserved one to collect today.
I can see that the majority is using already made mix, is there anyone who manage to make a good loaf with normal flour and basic steps ?

I am doubting of getting the machine now, because if i have to buy the mix everytime i cook bread, i may just aswell keep buying already made bread, they cost least than £50 sometimes in the supermarket.

    Please any help ?

morocha, pm me with your email address and I'll send you a sheet I've put together with 9 x 30p vouchers for Wright's bread mixes.
These are normally 73-75p'ish, so 43-45p isn't bad. Decent bread flour can be expensive. I bought one in Sainsburys for 90p and that was half-price (1kg) + yeast etc., the bread mixes are 500g.
I think it's worth it for "speciality breads", but hopefully will experiment soon.

I use basics flour with success. Just read the lable & try to buy some with higher gluten content. 12% is ideal but have had success with 10%. Just don't add too much water - you need the dough to be 'doughy' rather than runny. You can add whatever you fancy to the basic mix. There is LOADS of info on here. Basics flour often rises the top on the breadmaker which often the 'bread flour' fails to do. Experiment & you can make good bread very cheaply.

The Wrights mix is great too but I find sometimes it's a bit strong - maybe I've had quite a few from the bottom of the mix? - so I often use half & half plain 'basic' flour.

Approved food have Foccacia mix etc. at the moment 5 for 99p. Mine was from Morrisons.

Hope yours is there in its entirety. Mine wasn't & I'm peeved as I phoned them up & actually had 2 on reserve. My breadmaker is on its last legs as has been used so much.

Yes i have made 2 loafs a brioche and plain loaf and both were great have a seeded loaf in now and that wasn't pre mixed either. Its a great investment i would say.
