Why do adults have to eat around supermarkets?

I'll bet the people who think it's wrong to give a young child a grape or two to pacify them would be the first to moan about screaming 'brats' too. Have these people had children?0

Maybe the people who eat in the street have paid for their food already...
I've had children, and never took stuff from a shop to keep them quiet, I fed my two before and after shopping.
The people who think it's ok just can't see or accept that what they're doing is wrong.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Oh it will get worse....you just wait another 20 years.
it can only get worse, as everyone is scared to get hardline.0 -
i can remeber as an 8 year old going shopping with my heavily pregnant mother and being horrified that she ate something before p[aying for it.
its crazy really, eating something before its paid for is stealing, in my opinion it sort of amounts to the same naughtiness as buying an item of clothing wearing it for your night out and returning it for a refund! and i dont know many people who would think this is acceptable.
my children dont eat in the supermarket and i would definatly not give them something off the shelf befoe paying for it!0 -

So why is it wrong?
If I pay for exactly what iv ate and leave no mess what's the problem?0 -

Yes I have had kids (2 of my own and 3 step children) and IMHO you should be able to deal with 'screaming brats' without plying them with food that you have not paid for (yet?)
I don't think eating whilst walking round the supermarket is acceptable (although it does not stress me enough to get worked up about it). I also think it is more acceptable than say.....
giving a screaming child sweets/grapes/biscuits to 'bribe them into behaving'. What does this teach them ....scream enough and I'll get what I want???
Anyhow I realise this is not the topic up for discussion so I have said my peice and will now leave!0 -
