Why do adults have to eat around supermarkets?

From reading this thread I think I might have led a very sheltered life but.....I have never in my life seen someone eating in a supermarket. I only started reading the thread because the title intrigued me - I saw it and thought 'some mistake surely, no one eats in supermarkets, do they?' :rotfl:
I'm not saying its never happened in a shop I've been in, just that I've never seen anyone do it.0 -

Maybe if people would tell their little brats "no" and actually teach them to exercise some self control, they wouldn't grow into adults that walk around the supermarket thinking it is OK to pick things off the shelves and eating them?
Medical reasons are the only reasonable excuse.
:T:T well said that man - I still have to do a double take when I see people doing this - I just don't understand the mind set that can't see that this is not a good thing to be doing.Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

Try going out a little more, unless you live in some idyllic little village in the cotswolds or similar - yes it is a common occurrence .Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Yes. Thank you for the succinct summary of my post.My child is one and doesn't fully understand that concept yet.
Well what an opportunity to learn.I don't see the problem munching on a grape or two on the round as i get low blood sugar levels and have stomach problems. Yes i know its medical, but how can i tell my child no if i do it myself?
I appreciate that might be difficult, but again, what an opportunity for them to learn self control, and that you can't always get what you want.Especially on days like we have had in blazing heat and need a drink. As long as you pay for the item then fair enough.
Do any of us really need a drink to get through the average shopping trip? Define "need". How long does it take you to shop? Are you saying you can't plan ahead and have a drink just before you go? Or take some with you? (Especially for your baby, obviously, that IS a little different.)
Are you saying that if you're shopping you need to drink more than people who are at work and can't always have a drink whenever they want?People who eat a whole lunch whilst going round thats slightly different.
You know, this last remark could be read as "Eating as much or less than I do is OK. Eating more isn't".
I'm sure you don't mean it that way and I admit I am being a little provocative by pointing it out, but I really truly do not get the need to eat and drink in a store, other than as part of a medical condition (and again, if it's one you know will need caring for, rather than something that comes on as an emergency, then why not take what you need with you?). I certainly don't see how it can be defended. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I went shopping( At ASDA ) with my young son today(only 4 years old) he had a half eaten packet of rice cakes, upon entering the shop asked the security guard if that was ok as I did not want to get charged for something that was brought from outside, he said it was not allowed!!!!!! so I went back out and waited paitiently for my son to finish his snack, but obviously for the rest of the scummy people who think its ok to start gnawing on a whole roast chicken( like a possessed cavemen) whilst doing their shopping this rule does not apply to them, Seems a bit unfair, but then again atleast I have a bit more class!LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. I can remember seeing people do it when i was younger but i've never seen anyone do it in the past 20 years or so. And i dont live in a small village!
Perish the thought :eek:You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I was in tescos the other day, and there was a packet of sandwiches, one half left in the box, with a big bite mark out of it put on the shelf with the cheese....
makes me cross too - I agree completely, unless theres a medical reason - its really not on. When I was little I refused to go shopping with my dad cos he'd do the grape thing - and I couldnt get why he dindt think it was stealing....Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
