I was in tescos the other day, and there was a packet of sandwiches, one half left in the box, with a big bite mark out of it put on the shelf with the cheese....

makes me cross too - I agree completely, unless theres a medical reason - its really not on. When I was little I refused to go shopping with my dad cos he'd do the grape thing - and I couldnt get why he dindt think it was stealing....

I have the occasional sandwich whilst shopping I dont see a problem as long as you do pay for it and dont leave any mess.

I dont go about as if its my right to do it or anything but I get along with the shop staff and they dont mind either and sometimes even have a joke with me about it.

I don't like it when people eat things before buying when shopping. My partner last time we went shopping got hungry just after we finished with the veg and fruit - so basically right at the start of the shop . We saw some reduced sandwiches a bit latter and I told him to pick one and eat it outside before we carried on with the shop because I know him being hungry while shopping is hell on the budget. Cost of the reduced sandwich was 90p, cost of him shopping hungry is usually £5+ more than what our shop should cost.He bought the sandwich, ate it outside and we then carried on shopping.

Before my fiance met me he would have walked around eating it while shopping! He would always pay for what he ate but to be honest I don't think people should eat the item before the item is bought. To be fair the place we shop usually is the place he works so everyone knows he'd pay for it anyway but I just don't think it shows good manners to be honest.

Some things people go around eating really do put me off shopping but that is another matter really :o.

I hope that all these people who can't wait to eat the food before getting it to the checkout stay away from the aisles with the condoms or there would be carnage :D

It's one of my pet hates seeing people walking round the supermarket munching on things though but there's a difference between nibbling a couple of grapes out of the bunch they've got in their trolly and someone who's walking round eating Doritos AND the dip. It also annoys me when parents let their kids loose in the supermarket and think it's ok for them to stand eating pick and mix sweets for 5 minutes.

Going back to what someone said about theft earlier, how would it work with pick and mix when the cost is based on the weight of what you've put in the bag, they aren't paying for what they've munched walking round so surely that's theft.

Little brats? So your saying a child of one who would like a snack like a grape from a bag you are about to buy shouldn't be allowed to? They should exercise some self control? My child is one and doesn't fully understand that concept yet. I don't see the problem munching on a grape or two on the round as i get low blood sugar levels and have stomach problems. Yes i know its medical, but how can i tell my child no if i do it myself? Especially on days like we have had in blazing heat and need a drink. As long as you pay for the item then fair enough. People who eat a whole lunch whilst going round thats slightly different.

Grapes that need to be weighed shouldn't be eaten before being paid for or else all you're teaching your kid to do is to shoplift! (Unless they are in those packs with barcodes)

I don't see a problem of telling a kid of one no, it won't kill them to wait until the shopping is done!

Personally i would say its theft as you are permanently depriving them of the goods with no intention of offering payment.

As for the former........better the condom aisle than the toilet roll one!!!

I completely agree, no one can be that hungry that they have to eat walking round a supermarket.
If a grape is eaten, that means it's stolen, and I don't know where people think it's ok to be subsidised by us people who pay for everything.

I agree that things that are bought by weight shouldn't be eaten but I really don't see the problem in having a snack whilst shopping as long as you pay for it.
  • I love the fact that all the people that object to this haven't actually got any logical reasons why.

"its really not on" etc. Why? What's the issue with it?

I did make my point, as I said, take a grape, it's theft.

But walking round a supermarket eating their food is wrong. It's not yours yet.
