No, but apples are cheap, I can pull a centre leaf out of a pineapple and I know how to tell if a melon is ripe, but grapes are very hit and miss (and quite expensive).

ROFL - It was a 'fruit based' example.....what about other items that are expensive and may not suit your tastes.....Do you still have a try before you buy attitude...Washing Powder? Fresh Salmon? Honey Smoked Ham? Nappies...

Like I said previously - I don't think a grape is the end of the world but if you say a grape is acceptable but trying out the toilet roll isn't then where do you draw the line?

The sight of a person eating makes you sick? Look the other way!

theft ,it not yours untill you have paid.

As long as you pay I don't see the problem. You wouldn't be asked to pay for a meal in a restaurant before you eat it. Is that theft too?

i would prefer if you did not(its called thoughtfullness)

I'm sure there are things I'd prefer you not to do too but I'm not so petty (it's called tolerance).

    VAT issues

    What VAT issues?

I personally don't do it but I do feed our son food which we carry with us. I really can't see a problem with it though.

Think I might nip down to Currys tomorrow to do my washing in one of the machines, anyone care to join me :rotfl:

Why do some folk think it's ok to teach their children how to steal........
Why do I have to subsidise it?

I am sure there are many more.

erm the sliding standard of society?.....were do you draw the line??
Is it ok if i consume a bottle of wine?
Can i have a full meal?
WERE DO YOU ACTUALLY DRAW THE LINE?
CAN I USE THE TOILET PAPER BEFORE PAYING?
    TAMPONS??
    CONDOMS??

What is just too much for you?

exactly. Just because you would prefer someone not to do it dont mean they shouldnt. I would prefer people wouldnt smoke near me when im in a public space, i would prefer it if when shopping instead of having to tell people to get out the way ( after politely asking them to move) as 3 trollys next to each other in an isle tends make it very hard for people to get past.

I could give lots of i prefers but i wont.

Some items are vat free,if certain items are consumed on premises then vat is added.

    Thank you for your answers.

But you have not told me were you would draw the line.

Different vat is often payable if food is 'consumed on premises' rather than 'taken away'.

Does anyone remember when McDonalds used to charge you more for drinking a milkshake in the restaurant than they did for a takeaway one? (Going back about 25 years here....LOL)

Ok lets expand on your situation.

X is walking down the street to work and is eating a sandwich on the way some filling falls and lands on the pavement but oh dear X does not notice this and walks on.
Z who is also walking down said street does not notice the sandwich mess on the pavement and slips twists their ankle.

So by this reasoning you are saying people should not eat in all public places?

Unfortunately what people do out on the street is beyond anyone's control, and yes People should not eat in ALL public places, just like their are laws that prohibit people from smoking in Certain Public places!
LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT
