Re KevinM's post two or three past. Could this be a confusion between the different versions of {Online||Version|V|5}? Only one was definitely* due to end 31 July.
* I use the word 'definitely' blindly and unknowingly and probably inaccurately here.0 -

It's all very clear.....
I signed up in 2009 and have their T&C leaflet in front of me which was effective from July 2009. the end date of 31 July 2010 is written all over it in large print and in the small print....
6. You agree to remain on the EDF Energy Online Tariff Version 5 for each account until the Online Tariff Version 5 comes to an end, which, unless we write to you to advise of any extension, shall be 31 July 2010 (the ‘End Date’).7. Once the Online Tariff Version 5 ends ("End Date"), each participating Customer hereby agrees for each of their energy accounts under the Online Tariff Version 5 to be automatically transferred onto EDF Energy’s standard tariff product at such time, or such alternative product that EDF Energy considers to be an appropriate product for the Customer’s metering arrangements.....
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
I'm on V5 and just spoke to EdF to a) try and negotiate a price-match or some cashback (no deal, but she did say they're looking into providing cashback), and b) to check there's no exit penalties (there aren't). Without me asking, she offered to keep me on V5 until the switchover is complete - obviously this has been raised as an issue within EDF. So if you are going to switch, ring EDF to check that they'll keep you on V5 - saves a few quid.

I don't believe they HAVE TO keep you on the old rates but in practice many suppliers do. They get enough out of us so if the opportunity is there I'd say take it.
What I want to know is why the suppliers keep doing it. NPower blamed Ofgem and said they are only allowed discounted rates for a certain period, if this is true its a pretty sad reflection of Ofgem (shocker).
BTW if you were on the ball I can't see any difficulty in initiating the change of supplier before the end date because it takes at least 28 days to change supplier, it can take longer.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
I've been with EDF on online tarriff v5 since October last year. Went on uswitch.com yesterday and looked at what the alternatives might be. Scottish Power came out with £120 saving p.a. and EDF online v6 with a £116 saving p.a. Switching back to Scottish Power, my previous supplier.0

I just phoned and asked to be kept on V5 till I move to EON and she did it without question :-)0

They have to keep you on the old tariff prices until you switch(there is a time limit) if they increase prices and you switch because of those increased prices.
However, in this case with EDF, the Tariff finishes on 31 July so they are simply moving you to another tariff and that provision does not apply. One of BG's fixed tariff ended on 30th April and any customer moving went on their standard tariff for the period from 01 May until they switched.
If they are keeping customers on the old prices after 31 July, it is a goodwill gesture and not something they must do; so good news and well done EDF!0 -
A different response today from EDF yesterday 26/07 no they would not hold my V5 tariff while i transfer my dual fuel but today 5 mins ago they will hold my price for 28 days from 01/08 to allow the transfer to occur.
Depends on who you speak to or they are all now signing of the same hymn sheet0 -
After talking to EDF I've been extended on V5 til the 30th August. In the meantime I have to decide whether to switch supplier or switch tarriff to V6 which currently works out at 4% more pa based upon current useage, but has a tie-in until 30/06/11 or a £25 per fuel penalty if an early switch occurs.
Looks like V6 could be the option for me until one of the big suppliers has an increased cashback deal as SP did not so long ago.0
