MSE News: EDF Energy price hike to hit thousands

I did a couple of comparisons and although some worked out immediately cheaper that's how I fell into this situation in the first place, they only guaranteed to stay a minimum of 2% below standard and if you left before Sept 2011 they had fees. e.on's Save Online 2 tariff worked out the best. They guaranteed the SaveOnline discount of 18.7% until the end of August 2011 and even if you did want to leave earlier there were no penalties. Seemed like a result to me, and it reckons it is still marginally cheaper than my current tariff. EDF froze my prices for 60 days to give me time to switch after I read the advice on this forum and rang to complain, so thanks all :-)
Cheers,

I rang EDF to change my Online version 5 tariff to version 6 on the 2nd August. The lady on the phone said it would take a few days to go over. I have come home from work tonight and have received my latest bill which states that I am on the standard tariff and have been since the 1st August. I am not very happy!!0

Just got off the phone to EDF, apparently I have gone over to online V6 on the 4th Sept, which surprisingly is today. I said to the lady, "are you sure you are not just changing me over now?" She said "No, it can take up to a month to go across to the new tariff". It all sounds a bit dodgy to me. I would suggest to anyone who has changed from V5 to V6, check that it has changed and ensure you are not still on the standard tariff.0

I cant understand why it should take any time at all. Its not as if your changing companies. It should be purely a computer action !"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

The banks play silly games like this too so your money is in limbo and they get the use of it for free.
Perhaps the power companies should go into banking?
If we get stroppy and switch suppliers, their costs would be considerably greater than flicking us over on their computer system.0 -
I've just been told 2 days to switch over to the v7 online tariff so we shall see. thanks for tipping me off about possible problems as I pay by monthly dd and that would only go down from November, when they next do a reading.
Does it help if you do your own reading and send it to them via the website (assuming it's working, wasn't yesterday)? At least their CS line is free and the people pleasant to deal with :-S0 -
