    Hello there,

Hoping some of you more seasoned r&r's out there can help me. Been into Tesco Hindley today, where X box 360 and game of the week (99 nights) would be full price - £20.

However, game of the week on the shelf was dead rising, which is what I picked up. So I thought, here we go, first forage into the world of r&r.

So took thru till and charged full price for the lot, no discount.

Took to CS and they would not let me have either free given that game of the week on the poster was 99 nights not Dead Rising. However, label on shelf was dead rising.

Came to no avail so I got full refund and walked away with nowt.

Do I have a valid r&r claim here? Advice would be great cos I intend to ring CS direct.

Should have held on to it and asked to talk to Customer Service in Dundee. Even if it means waiting, or going home and coming back, what would you have lost? Some time maybe. If CS said no to R & R then you could have taken it back and had the refund.

As it is you've lost out. Accepting the refund means the transaction is finished.

Go and find a different store, or a different manager ;)
  • Been to 4 different stores this morning whilst on my travels and they really seemed to to have tightened up. All game posters were dated correctly and even though I checked quite alot of items that I thought might work they were all correct? Does it seem like they are getting more on the ball, certainly with consoles? or did I have an unlucky journey?

Also, I wondered what standard responses people have used when CS have said 'the discount is only off the game, not the console and game' without revealing that you know HO don't back that?

I have seen in my local store DS Puyopop game stickered at 19.94 but store does not have any scanners. Does anyone know if these are still scanning at 30 something pounds as they were a few weeks ago?

This illustrates why it's not always the best policy to go for the 'big un' with your first R&R. Cut your teeth on the smaller ones first. You know it make sense...
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Fair point, but not very usefull if the thing he was interested in (the 360) was available NOW and he needed to be fast to get it. He didn't really have time to go and find some overpriced bread or something.

also, if you aren't interested in the small ones you may as well go straight onto the high-value items. There doesn't need to be anything nerve-wracking or 'adrenaline-pumping' about it. You aren't going to lose anything, there is no risk so there shouldn't be any stress either.

I've a had a quick look through the thread for this, but can't see any reference to it. The Talkabout mag they have in the shop (Autumn edition) shows the Sony Ericcson K750i for £129.97, but it showed on the SEL £149.97 and scanned at the higher price. Spoke to a woman on the electrical counter and queried the price. She had no idea, but got the duty manager and he went through the mag and pointed out the small print at the front, saying the prices are subject to change and are correct at the time of going to press. He said this is standard practice with the magazines, not only for Tesco but other shops as well.

Obviously I argued the fact that Tesco were advertising a phone at a lower price and they should honour it. He was having one of it, so I got a refund of the £149.99 (kept the points though!) and gave the phone back.

My question is 'is he right or did I have a good shout for an R&R?'

  • I really need some advice please.

I found my first biggie today.
Silver PS2 GOTW Lego wars. took it through till discount did not come off.
They would not give me the R&R, said that they were only willing to refund£20 and let me keep the game, i refused . asked to speak to manager got fobbed off with hes not here, so got a duty who would still not honour policy. called HO and the bloke on the phone said straight away that I should have a full refund, he phoned store for me and still they would not budge! BTW the manager was there all the time because HO spoke to him!! HO said that he would refer it to special dept on monday.what do I do now guys??
