  • Thank you "the old bag" .... great post !

Might I reiterate your point in isolation:

    " IF YOU DON'T LIKE A POST .... IGNORE IT "....

No need to go slagging another poster off just because you don't understand it fully.
  • Let's just keep it real folks, okay?

I'm toying with the idea of going back to the store and seeing if there is a different bunch in, although I know they took the poster down so I guess they'll just deny it was up....

My call has been logged and I'm told I'll get a call back on Monday about it, the CS bloke said they had had loads of R&R related discrepancies on XBoxes and PS2's.

I think that's what I find most unfair, the inconsistency. To me if one store applies the policy, they all should, otherwise the policy has no value.

Love reading this thread - hours of entertainment!!!!

I am of the opinion that R&R is a game to play with Tescos! Sure, they offer the R&R policy - a way for us to point out their errors, but, as stated way back (on earlier thread) - I'm sure it was originally intended to make sure people weren't overcharged for their weekly grocery shop, and supposedly keep their "price checking" team on their toes!!

Along the way however, perhaps Tescos have got too big for their own good, their price checking team cannot keep up with the price changes - Tescos have gone from being your local grocery shop to being a retailer of practically everything, from grocery to books, electrical, diy, telephones etc, etc.

So the question I ask is - If we purposely look for things to R&R, and get knocked back - shouldn't it be taken with a pinch of salt. I mean how many people who have managed to get Xbox's or other large items, would have bought them if there hadn't been a possibility of getting them for nowt????? Surely if you were going to buy one anyway, and managed to get refund on game alone for example - wouldn't that be considered a good deal - Xbox and free game???

I myself am buying a Nintendo DS for my son - I will look for the incorrect posters etc, if I get it for nothing "excellent" if I get knocked back for full R&R just offered refund on game "cool" and if I have to pay full price - then that's OK as I was buying one anyway.

Just my opinion - not meant to offend/annoy/upset/antagonise/wind-up or otherwise bother people

Fair enough, but please be aware if you don't get R&R, chances are you will have paid over the odds for it compared to other retailers. Tesco isn't exactly the cheapest retailer out there.... ;)
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

I think that's a commendable attitude, although it does then leave room for Tesco to suit themselves in regard to their price promise.

I'd be quite happy if they said something like "Items over £200 excluded" or some other clause, but they don't so I don't think they can apply it to suit themselves.

It's either a price promise or it isn't to my mind, whether you know about the mistake beforehand is irrelevant to the application of the policy.

Wasn't aware of this - haven't taken much notice of the prices in Tesco as I usually shop elsewhere. Thanks for pointing it out!

I have been lucky enough to receive a few R&R (4 GBA games, 3 PSP games, Smoothie Maker, pack of DVD's) I have been "shaking with adrenalin" on all of them - I know I shouldn't!!!! I hope to play the game some more - I am the type of person that does not like confrontation in any shape or form, so would probably just "give in" and not argue the point.

Good luck to all those standing their ground!!! :T
  • Well I'm not keen on confrontation myself, but some of these stores seem to invite it.

When I took mine to CS it was the lady behind the counter who said, that I was entitled to a refund but she couldn authorise it.

Then when the chappie came with me to look at the poster he said (without prompting) you should be entitled to a full refund.

It was only when the manager offered my a derisory £20 gift voucher that I decided to stand my ground no matter what, first it was "well that's £20 off the game only" then it was "we'll refund you the £20" then "we'll refund the game" and finally it was "well the poster is out of date".

It was clear to me that he knew he should refund it, but had decided not to.

They actually force you into a position where you feel like you have to say that you know others have had the refund, instead of simply following their own policy they start an argument.

Tesco isn't the cheapest, but there are others that are more expensive! Just if you look online/check these forums or HUKD you will find better deals than what Tesco offers. £280 for a 360 with a game free is still more expensive than some other places, or at best the same - however you don't need to go through all the hassle of trying an RnR. But guess its worth a shot in case it comes through.

I, for one, have decided to give up on the 360 - tried a couple of times and just haven't got lucky. Gave back my Core system today. Instead I am just going to get the Boots offer on a Premium. SO while I will not actively seek a 360 out - if I am ever in a store and happen to see an out of date poster I may try my luck once more :D
  • Boots offer?

And yes I did search the Boots thread "xbox" but it returned no results...
