It seems that in general people have more trouble with senior staff members. Maybe its because part of there salary is based on bonus whereas the junior staff just turn up and get paid.

I think that's right, yesterday the junior staff were saying to me "fair play to you" and giving me the fingers-crossed sign when no one was looking.

The senior staff are paid a bonus to make sure things are right, so if they don't do their job then they can hardly moan IMHO, although of course human nature means they will
  • ? I dunno the average trolly according to the watchdog ranged from 1% to 10% with an average of 3%. I would say that most of these overcharges that I have seen on consoles have been over 5%.
  • Some advice please....

Re my earlier post about buying a book yesterday stickered at 8.97 and charged 9.97, duty manager would only refund me the £1 overcharge and would not honour the price promise that was on the massive board behind him!!

Anyway i rang HO and they said that he had no right to do that, but as i'd accepted the £1 difference they couldn't over rule him and they suggested i just took the book back for a full refund....which i have just done.

However he wasn't even prepared to give me a refund even tho i had the receipt. He said that because i had been to the CS desk with other stuff before (on 3 or 4 occasions) and had R&R, i wasn't entitled to a refund this time.

I responded by saying that the only reason i had visited the CS desk in the first place was because i had been overcharged by them...his response was ''i don't think so.we NEVER overcharge'' ''so how come'' says i ''that the CS staff always honour your policy.surely they wouldn't do that if i hadn't been overcharged'' His response was to go off and supposedly speak to the store manager, then come back and say that i could have 8.97 refunded (cos i'd had £1 back yesterday) but that in the future i would not be entitled to benefit from their price policy if i'm overcharged again. The whole time he made me feel very intimidated and bullied...i suffer from anxiety and depression, and i was worried i was gonna have a panic attack, so i just meekly took what he said and didn't argue it.

Anyway, i've just spoken to someone at HO who strongly urged me to write a letter of complaint about this member of staff (they gave me a freepost address in Dundee but i'm gonna write to the address on the first page to Sir Terry-might get more joy)

So if anyone can offer me any advise on how to word the letter i'd be really grateful. you can pm me if you prefer. i know what i want to say, i'm just not very good at getting it across, so any help would be great

This whole experience has left me feeling really upset.I know i'm in the right, but i just don't know how to go about doing something about it

PinkPinkFizz, you have my full sympathies, cos after today i know exactly how you must be feeling after the way you were treated the other day
  • I think that is a disgusting story.

It seems to me that you'd be better off going to the CS desk with a mate or big brother stood behind you to intimidate them back :D

Maybe you should name the store involved and if any of us are within driving distance, we could descend on it like a plague of locusts :D . This manager sounds like he's overdue a come-uppance. And, as Constantine has already said, his worst fear is a lot of us descending on his store (personally, I probably wouldn't even if I knew where it was as I have a healthy amount of respect for his postings on here, but this toe-rag should get what he deserves)...
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Mandy moo, the way they treated you was absolutely disgraceful and I feel angry just reading about it. I'd be happy to be one of those "locusts" that Clasics suggested, if you fancy naming the store either on here or by private message.

    .......
R+R is easy on stickered stuff, the hardest part of those is getting them through the checkout without the assistant noticing the sticker which some do especially the older more experianced assistants.......
You'd think it would be dead easy. As I was offered the £1 difference between sticker on book and SEL, thought I'd phone up HO customer service to clarify.

They gave me a lot of guff which boiled down to the SEL price was the correct price and stickers don't count! It's up to individual CSA's or stores whether they give me full R&R or the difference. As I talked about their policy he emphasised they were the only store to have the price policy in place. Yes, I know.

Mandymoo, just read your post. I don't see the point in going any further with the book. I know lots of posters would disagree, but if you feel upset about the incident it's not worth giving yourself more grief, life's too short. Complain about the man's attitude by all means he sounds a total a r s e!!!!.

The particular store I used accepts coupons against my shopping and have used over £120 worth over the last 2 weeks. I don't want anyone keeping an eye on me in store!

I will be there if it is not too far. Bagsy the electrical section.

  • Name it I could do with a laugh, even if it is only complaining about quality in general. PM it or name it in here.

PS will let you know how I get on.

I'd happily turn up if it's within 40 miles of Bicester - I love a good argument :D

I suggest if they say this again you get the name of the CS adviser, then make a formal complaint to Trading Standards that Tesco are deliberately advertising items with large stickers indicating lower prices than they are prepared to sell them for, as a marketing ploy which they have no intention of honouring. I'm sure TS will be only too happy to take that one on :D
