Ole1973 I apoligise for some strange reason thinking you were a newbie, member since sep 2006 and your first post I wonder what gave me the idea you were new?
but there is no definative yes and no when it comes to r+r, I tried for a PSP and gotw cars when the problem was first noticed weeks ago it was an over charge as the discount didnt come off but it all depends on the CS staff, manager you speak to and the person at head office you speak to it just takes 1 of them to throw a spanner in the works remove a sel or poster, decide that a psp black base pack isnt a psp console as per the description on the sel the managers and cs will try anything to not give you a £200 item for free. if you push things you risk becomming high profile or worse getting banned.
As for my other post it still stands I spent years using x, y and z as substitutes during my gcse maths and further maths A level so I know how it works. I am prepaired to work things out when a qualification requires it and am happy to repeatedly refer back to previous bit to remember that x is the console y is gotw and z is the game at number 1. going for r+r's on the basis af stuff being in the wrong positions is just pure luck who was it that was batteling over the droylsden store xbox? insomniac I think. reciently the 360 gotw was test drive but the picture showed dead uprising. I would go of the text saying test drive buying from the picture is just an easy way for the manager to get out of the r+r.
R+R is easy on stickered stuff, the hardest part of those is getting them through the checkout without the assistant noticing the sticker which some do especially the older more experianced assistants.
if you havnt had the rush when you find a big r+r that hasnt been posted on here unlucky. and it was in my early r+r life £180 camera and printer. I now know what to go for and when not to go for an r+r depending on the time and staff working in the local stores and I know how to respond to the things hey say in responce. one of the worst things I have found is to mention trading standards especially when the manager considers him/herself correct in refusing r+r. they clam up and stop and I have had them walk away. you need to come accross as not knowing about the policy or your rights going all guns blazing is the wrong aproach to take.
now you have an account maybe you will post any misprices you find as an experianced r+rer.0 -
I pulled this over from the misprice threadhanslope wrote:Just bought a Nintendo DS with the GOTW (Brain Trainer) which expired yesterday and discount still came off. Now OH has conned me into keeping it. Still no luck.... Was looking for the silver PS2 with star wars to see if that was prime for thr picking.
Branch was basingtoke.
LOL you got the disount and you still bought it, you need to learn the ohh I forgot my credit card trick
The DS I got was due to the gotw poster being mario when it should have been the brain trainer, that poster was also up. I dont think the posters use an expirer date on them just a week commencing date so they can leave them out. I personally wouldnt have phoned HO over that one you got the discount on an offer that could have expired so any genuine customer (non r+rer would have been happy.
leave it unused and return it to the store.0 -

I always find it pays dividends to find a young lad and engage them in conversation whilst they are scanning your stuff. As the father of 2 lads myself, I'm well aware of just how easily distracted they are...:DI spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
Exactly right, the posters have a start date but no end date (although apparently that still means an expiry according to the guy I saw yesterday).0

Better still, pay for it and when you have to go to CS desk to pick up the console, tell them you've decided that it probably wasn't a good idea buying on impulse and could you please refund me? Chances are you may end up £20 to the good....:oI spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

I was wondering if this is why the PS2 Star Wars II was first going thru higher than the displayed price, and then suddenly at the display price.
The ONLY date on the labels ( bigger than the normal sel, and bright yellow ) was 14th sept, which I ASSUMED meant the offer would finish on that date, but thanks to the mis-price thread I tried it anyway, BEFORE the 14th, and got an R&R.
Tried it yesterday, and it went thru at the lower price, so maybe Tescos are now changing their labelling to show the start NOT finish date of offers.
Maybe it would help their staff though if they actually TOLD them this, because the staff still seem to think it is the END date and put the labels/posters/sels up obviously BEFORE they should be0 -
No I don't think so, the poster I saw yesterday said "Week Commencing 8/09/2006" with no expiry.
It would be odd to have an expiry of "week commencing..." the bloke I had was trying to make out it was out of date because the 8th Sept was a week ago... even though I was buying the following Friday (15th Sept).
Last time I checked 8 + 7 = 15 and a week from Friday is Friday, not Thursday as he was implying.
Essentially either he thought I was an idiot or he was one, it's basic English language!
In your example it just sounds like they've done a full system update, which is fair enough.0 -
Regarding peoples bad experinces with Tesco CS staff, I'd just like to say (and I DONT work for Tesco) that they are all not bad. Couple of staff at my local "know" me and would often remark "found another". There are staff on CS who have made comments along the line of "well if the stupid sods cant get the prices right" and a MANAGER actual said over a PSP £19.94/£19.97 R&R "if the idiots of head office are daft enough to change the price for 3p.
It seems that in general people have more trouble with senior staff members. Maybe its because part of there salary is based on bonus whereas the junior staff just turn up and get paid.0 -
Sure, they offer the R&R policy - a way for us to point out their errors, but, as stated way back (on earlier thread) - I'm sure it was originally intended to make sure people weren't overcharged for their weekly grocery shop, and supposedly keep their "price checking" team on their toes!!
No no no no no.sorry I love that word sometimes.
What most people seem to miss out is that Tesco is not a charity, it does not and never will offer R&R out of the goodness of its heart. R&R is for the benefit of Tesco. For instance in the past they have been monitored by watchdogs that have claimed they overcharge on average by 3%, the Irish goverment wanted them to give 33 Million (the ultimate R&R perhaps) to public funds but Tesco argued that because of its R&R policy it had already done over and above the law to repay any errors for over charge.
Now do not get me wrong, but what is worse? Someone being overcharged by 40p on a pack of sausages? or someone being overcharged by £20 on a console? Surely if anything the console is more deserving of the R&R as the overcharge is "usually" greater.0 -
Not if you looked at it on a percentage basis...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0
