Hi i just read this thread please help,
i went to my local tesco and asked them if they had any offer on xbox with game of the week, the girl at customer services went and asked the manager and manager pulled out the offer from computer, I bought xbox with prey wasnt given any discount so i told them i been overcharged they said the offer is with game only and i said no according to ur ad its with both. so called head office next day, HO says as the offer wasnt displayed i am not entitled to refund and retain. Can someone tell me where do i stand on this.
thanks in advance

Getting back to my original question, Constantine, what would you do if a customer asked for a refund on £320 of goods? Would you check the receipt to see if they paid by giftcard, and if so, would you only credit the refund back onto another giftcard?
I would not want to do a £300 refund! Yes, I would check the reciept and if payment was made by giftcard, that is how I would refund. If the item was originally from an other store, I would definatly want to investigate the circumstances - starts to sound like a bit of a scam (without knowing any of the back story).Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
Just brought 4 beef topside joints priced at 6.48kg on pack, these were behind a big yellow offer stating that the 6.48kg is now 5.18kg (I'm sure you all know the offer by now
).
Anyhow, they had no sticker just a normal pack with the 6.48kg stamped on it.
Went to CS to point out that I had been overcharged as 'offer' hadn't come off at the till - showed them the yellow sign, showed the dept manager the sign, showed the store manager the sign ..... all insisted that the pack price was the price and that I hadn't been overcharged - just picked up the wrong product
Took 45 mins to get me to eventually accept a 'refund' no R&R as they were insistant that it wasn't their fault that customers 'move products around'.
Shall I leave it and put it down to experience - or shall I phone customer services (HO) to complain about it all? and if I do ring .... any idea as to what I should say?
Did I do the right thing?0 -

you asked if there was an offer on, OK
what did they tell you? yes or no?
There is an offer on and it is currently xbox 360 and test drive unlimited even though the image on the poster is dead rising.
You went and bought xbox 360 and Prey which isnt the current offer so why are you moaning?
you didnt buy the offer so are not entitle to R+R.
I belive that if you buy the game of the week and an xbox you receive the £20 discount. I dont know if anyone has tried an xbox and dead rising as the discount shouldnt come off. and then fight over the fact you bought what the picture showed.0 -
Ohh just going back to Constantines 2 R+R's in her store (I think I read your female I apoligise if your male) are the 2 department managers still hanging by the testicles? or have you let them down?0

I've had this before now, and taken the gift card. By the way, the maximum amount of cash that can be put on a gift card (it's actually a Money Card), is £100. So, you'd end up with 4 money cards for the money you're talking about here. I took the card, as the manager was being very nice and didn't dispute the overcharge and R&R at all. Also, I knew I'd be able to spend it in Tesco anyway (which I did - on diesel within a week). It didn't bother me that it was on a money card for this very reason. As Constantine says, the loss for the store is still the same, regardless of whether you get it put back on your debit card or if you take it on a money card. You can spend it at any Tesco store, including their filling stations (not express filling stations, as far as I know). I think the manager offered it as he felt it was a way of me showing I wasn't scamming him.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

I wouldn't risk raising your profile over some beef joints. Put it down to experience and look for other r&r opportunities in this particular store.0 -
