Tesco misprice discussion area part 9

I really don't see anyone can have a case for an overcharge with the letstalkabout booklet if it clearly states that the price is correct at the time of going to press. I think you need to know where the line is and know when you are crossing it. Although you might be feeling good because you think you have got an R&R, at the end of the day if it states price is correct at time of press and is subject to change etc, then I think you have to admit defeat and move on. You're just going to look silly demanding your money back when they have no reason to give you it.The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0

Sounds like a decent manager. Doesn't want to start a new habbit of giving R&R on a magazine advert but wants you to be satisfied and understands your complaint.
You wait till you get someone refuse an R&R purely on the basis that they are not sure if they should give it even though they can't see why. Its mind blowing, they agree with you that you have been over charged but do not want to cough up.0 -

i have looked everywhere for the post about the Vodaphone K750i that is in the letstalkabout booklet for £129.99 (which was still below the phones) when i purchased it and i was charged £149.99. After talking to CS i was told that in the book it says prices correct at time of going to press so it's not an overcharge so i won't be getting an RnR.The manager came and was polite but said he can't give me a RnR on it as it does state price correct at time of going to press etc,to which i replied that the books were still below the phones so should be classed as an overcharge. He said i should give CS a ring on their free phone number, which i have done and am awaiting a phone call back from them.......to be continued........lol
I think I would definitely ask CS to confirm the dates when this phone was actually on sale at the lower price. They can check backdated prices for any item instore (if they have time) so CS in Dundee can certainly get this info.
If they confirm that it was indeed on sale at the lower price then I guess your case is harder to win. But if they can't confirm this I would push a bit more, as this would surely be a misprice (and a misleading leaflet for ASA to have a look at, mention this to CS if fobbed off).PRIVATE 'PCN'? Thats what they said to me as the offer was out of date and the manager was being very generous in offering me £20.00 as a goodwill gesture. The CS girl said she waould speak to the manager and I'm still awaiting a call back from yesterday morning.0 -
After reading all these posts i finally did one today.
I got a mobile for £69.99, had to call the manager over & he was saying that they would give me the £20 back for the top up voucher but i stood my ground & they finally said they'd give me the money back for the phone & the phone :T
The woman on CS had the right hump & had a terrible attitude which made it all the more sweeter
I picked up some selection boxs but they went through fine.
What selection boxes aren't going through properly?
I got the maltesers & mars selection but they went through properly.
I tried getting some topsided rump, i picked up 'top rump' but they said it should of been 'topside' rump i just just gave it back & got my money back.
In the 2 tesco's i went into nearly everything was priced properly.
Has anyone managed to find anything in the tesco's in Kensington, cos they seemed to be on the ball & everything was correct. It was only in the Hammersmith tesco's that i managed to get the phone.
I would really love to get some games for my son for xmas for his psp or ps2 but both stores, had either no games or none that people on here have mentioned. Does anyone know of any mistakes on xbox's?
I think i need to find a better tesco's lol
Thanks everyone “Hope is the only bee that makes honey without flowers.”

You should go for a job at tesco's.We will see who the silly one is.The book is Autumn 2006 and was still on the shelves below the phones. If it is not wrong then the CS lady wouldn't of said Thank you for letting us know and i will remove ALL the remaining mags off the shelf NOW.0 -

Completely new to this, had the same outcome but got the petrol voucher and schools vouchers so not all lost. Was instore yesterday when the PSP posters were up but bottled it. Read some more on here and went back but the posters were gone, even the shelf stacking girl was looking for them.
New posters up for this weeks promotion still includes the tekken game, but the store have no PSP to buy damn!0 -

I don't know, I have had good and bad experiences of this.
A couple of months ago I missed out on an R&R for bananas becasue the lower 'price per kg' SEL had been removed while I shopped. I didn't argue about it, checked the shelf myself and indeed the whole carousel had been turned, rearranged, replenished and labels removed etc. so I don't think it was a conspiracy! It would have only been a pound or so.
But this week I went looking for expired SELS ending 19/9 and found a BOGOF SEL on Honey nut Shredded Wheat. Picked up two, saw a guy updating nearby shelves and thought I would just check the SEL was still there before I paid. I did so (about 45 minutes later) and the SEL had been turned round so it showed a blank ticket (but I could just see it was the same SEL I had seen).
Anyhoo, decided to chance it, CS went and checked and brought the SEL back, apologised for taking so long as she had to check that the offer had only just been turned around, it had so she did full R&R.
Win some, lose some, walk away sometimes...some of the many rules of R&R!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi,
I am encountering my first unusual r&r situation today !
Was in Tesco last night and saw leaflets all over the store (on the tills) stating that I would get 10% off ALL Tesco Mobile Motorola phones, on closer inspection I saw that the SLVR L7 phone was only £89.97 under the promotion !!
So I went off to the phones department to get the phone, and saw it and picked the empty DVD case straight off the shelf. After having gone through the checkout I noticed, whilst waiting to collect my mobile phone, that the phone had gone through at £99.97 NOT £89.97 !!!!
So I asked about it, and I was told by the manager who was called by the assistant at the desk, that I was not entitled to anything at all as it didn't count as an overcharge, as Tesco were not breaking the law because there was a promotion end date in TINY TINY print at the bottom of the leaflets, and it had expired over 2 weeks ago !!!!
He said they hadn't broken the law by leaving them out, because they had put an expiry date on the leaflets. He said it would only be a misprice if there was no expiry date and the price was on the shelf itself.
So I rang Customer services today, and the lady told me confidently that it wasn't an overcharge because the price wasn't on a shelf or poster above/next to the item itself, as it was only a leaflet it didn't count; and therefore Tesco wouldn't honour the offer price!!
SO .... somewhat dumbfounded, she offered for me to speak with her supervisor, so I accepted knowing no better what to do next .... and supervisor was busy on another call and is now supposed to ring me back before 2:30pm today.
Long post I know (sorry) but I really am at a loss what to do next when the supervisor calls. Can anybody help please with my rights and comments on the way Tesco have handled this so far, fairly/unfairly??
Thanks people !!0 -

Has anyone had any joy with HO on this one?0
