Tesco misprice discussion area part 9

hi i have been lurking for a few weeks and tonite while i was shopping i bought the PSP and game of the week tekkon tonite in my local tesco but there wasnt any sign saying £10 off i went to CS desk and mentioned that all the other tesco have the offer on and that i have been over charged, the CS and the manager got very shirty with me saying that all tescos have different offers on all the time, is it worth it for me to ring CS tomorrow if so what should i say...many many thanks

You should just ask for your money back and give them the PSP back and game. You bought something that was not on offer in the store so they are well within their rights.

They are covered on just about every angle. The only slightest chance you would have is if you happened upon a national newspaper ad that said it was available in every store and not on a store by store basis. However even then due dilligence laws more or less cover the fact that the manager did not offer you the offer in his personal store so in the end your back at square one. Due dilligence is basically what a manager is claiming when he starts banging on about the fact that it his personal choice if he gives you R&R or not. The manager is wrong, although he can if he wishes decide that Tesco was not responsible he is, by doing that, taking it all on his own shoulders. I have warned in the past to any managers reading this to be very carefull as in reality HO would be all to pleased if managers themselves started getting fined thousands at a time for false advertising and overcharges rather than Tesco HO.

If you really wanted the offer, and was not doing this just to claim R&R I suggest you appeal to HO via email and say that you would like it very much if they would send you the 10 quid as you visited tesco just to get this offer which you had seen the previous day and knew was still going to be in date.

In my opinion you've got no chance.

Shirty or not, the CS staff were right on this one. Just because you see an offer in one store, doesn't mean it's available in another. If you had a newspaper or TV ad to refer to, that would be different, but the way you describe it, you're on a loser.

Just got back from my local Extra store. Had refund on both White psp with Tekken and Motorola V3. Happy about the V3 as I missed it in another store yesterday.

Xmas is going to be very cheap this year at this rate.

well got my PSP and GOTW !, no problems, infact the nicest CS staff and CS Manager you could wish to meet, in and out within 10 minutes.......Fantastic, just how it should be.

The offer is quite clear....£10 off when you buy PSP and GOTW (its a bundle) therefore £10 off the bundle.

I'm still confused,
Today in my Tesco they had white and black psp's and game of the week was tecken. They did not have any posters up, but
had the chart list which showed the £10 off, would
this have triggered the discount,
I've been reading this thread for ages, and still can't get my head
round it,

Was a bit miffed after no R&R on mince today so plucked up the bottle & went back in tonight and got a Siemens Poppy mobile. £20 discount for £20 top up didn't come off, 10 mins of debate and 1 free mobile. Much better than mince!

There must be hope for me then, regarding the white PSP/Tekken combo. I purchased one of these this morning after be primed by Hey Dude (thanks!) but had an almighty battle to claim an RnR. Discount did not come off and I got offered a refund on the game alone because the Dept Manager and Duty Manager interpretted the sign as the £10 discount off the GOTW NOT the bundle. Even though we all know on this forum it is open to another interpretation! I declined the refund on the game, even though the Duty Manager was virtually insisting on giving me a refund. I said I wanted to speak to CS at Dundee. So they tried to call there and it was engaged, so Duty Manager spoke to Store Manager on the phone and he backed her up with a refund only on the game. I said I would keep both items and speak to HO myself for clarification. So the Duty Manager (cheeky bloody mare!) wrote on my receipt that "I declined the offer of a refund on the game!" I said I resented that as she was implying I WAS doing something wrong. Anyway I have come home with both items only to find there is a power cut in my area that has lasted until 8 this evening so I couldn't chase it up today during office hours. The store has made a note on their computer diary of everything that was said, done, seen etc for the record. Will my call to CS go in my favour? At worst I will return the lot for a refund but I was hoping it would be a start on my son's Xmas shopping list. PS. I did also get £20 of meat at the same time!

I should imagine there was no posters as someone had already found that misprice in that store. Therefore the posters had been taken down. They would have been very shirty with you as already having to give the previous a refund you were the icing on the cake. You DO have to work for these R&R's & go out of your way to find the right mistakes.
I would have got 5 psp's today otherwise but only one store had the posters up.
Infact I'd still be out know until 11.59pm getting them saying I saw the poster somewhere else.
It's took me 9 months of small misprices to build myself up to this.
Sorry it's really not that easy.

PS They didn't mark my receipt except previous cross out (attempted r and r until I objected earlier)and rec on game (as was one you had to collect at CS) Does this mean I can take it back and refund it legit or is this pushing it too far????

Oh dear, yes you should have gone for it. The store where I got my free black psp & Tekken was an offer on the chart list at the bottom. I just called it a poster on here. The discount wouldn't have come off, get yourself down there as the offer changes tomorrow. Be prepared for a fight, read the last few pages so you get info & confidence in what to do on a refusal.
