PS, if anyone else has this picture, or a scan of the sign B&W will do can you send it to me. You can guess what has happened.

  • Just a quick question, probably answered before but didn't find in this forum.

Several offers on gaming products end today 21/09.

Does the offer come off the Tesco system at midnight or some other time?

Can you always claim R&R on an expired sel?

Or in other words should I bother being at Tescos at midnight tonight to stock up on the kids xmas presents?

    Hi,

Whilst doing an R&R today on some chicken, overheard a guy trying to get a refund - with receipt - for a DVD still in cellophane. He was told he could only get a replacement from the same 'section' and was not offered a refund.

Just curious if anyone had come across this policy before, for CD's. DVD's and Games.

Tesco really annoy me with this! Slightly different stuation but I bought 2 PSP games a couple of weeks ago beause SEL prices were different to stickers but they went through at the lower price (no price checkers around!) so no R&R, decided I would return them to a different store later that day. However, they were sold to me in UNSEALED condition (which i didn't notice til later!) so they wouldn't refund, and the woman on the CS desk went as far as accusing me of copying them  (i swear i haven't!) I can understand their reasons for not refunding but they shouldn't sell them unsealed themselves if this is the case!

I have noticed that on their policy it states that CDs, DVDs and Games MAY be restricted to an exchange of the same title due to them possibly being copied. If it was sealed as you say and he had his receipt then I think he should've been entitled to a refund!!

The system doesn't update at midnight. There's a switch over period, too, to enable the stores the chance to get the old POS down and new POS up. Yes, you can claim an R&R on an expired SEL, although some stores will argue it with you. It's not the customer's responsibility to check the expiry dates on the offers. It's the store's responsibility to make sure all its POS and labelling is correct and up to date. It's HO's responsibility to make sure that all offers work and all corresponding POS is unambiguous. The PSP fiasco (buy the cheap PSP and GOTW) was a HO error, not store error. It should have been picked up at store level, however, as there is no yellow SEL for the £149.99 PSP, even though the POS states "Save £10 when you buy a PSP or DS console and GOTW". They are quick enough to spot the absence of the yellow SEL when you're asking for an R&R. ;)

If he didnt have a reciept, but could prove it came from Tesco's (sticker or Tesco's own brand product) then they will exchange it from something from that section. They do a lot of that after Christmas.

I once had an electrical item which I exchanged for a DVD, I relly wanted food, which would have been much more useful.

  • Just to possibly confuse the situation more.

Given the fact that the r&r is gained as their is literature in the store stating the offer. Can the same not be applied in stores where their is no posters etc. Being that the discount is a national, tesco promotion.

Just curious to ppl's views on this. My local has psp, tekken, no post or sel stating offer but surely a offer that is in date but not displayed is still valid
  • But the guy DID have a reciept, and it was is cellophane...... he just calmly asked for the HO number, and said he would take it up with them.

Thankyou for responding to my question.

I have only dabbled in the food section for R&R's..... I don't eat red meat, so I will leave all the joints and steak for you guys..... am very happy with my chicken.

Just wondered what I would be getting myself into if I tried for the DS games... Santa might be bringing one for DS this christmas and some games would go down a treat...... would be better if some were curtisy of Mr.T. :rotfl:

  • OK I need your help

Firstly in the mobile phone section there is a brochure called letstalkabout. On page 16 is a Sony Ericsson on Vodafone K750I AT £129.00. The SEL in store and scan price was £149.99 so i got 2 (until i reaslised after i was overcharged)

Anyway the store deputy would not r&r as it was a brochure that could be in/out of date (its the autumn) and said it may be inaccurate.

So a level 7 R&R if you want it. I have to call HQ tomorrow to get an overturn this was after i was told that i couldnt bring the phones back tomorrow for a refund if i left the store with them now!

Any feelings on my r&r position. I have the brochure with her handwriting on it!

Well I tried to buy a PSP with the GOTW Tekken. Sure enough the discount -£10 is not taken off. They would not give me a R&R on the PSP only on the Game. I asked if i could phone head office, but they close at 6..damn. In the end I ended up getting the whole amount refunded and having to walk away. I still have the receipt though. Is there anything I can do, how can you prove it to a duty manager that it should be on both the game and the psp.
