I bought this voucher, and too was frustrated yesterday at not being able to get on the site. What frustrated me even more is that when I could eventually get on, everything I had liked was sold out, so clearly other people could order! I rang them up, spoke to a very nice and helpful lady, who informed that the voucher is purely a voucher with a £39 value. You can order cheaper or more expensive frames, and receive a £39 discount (as well as the cheapest pair free) I actually ordered 2 pairs from the £34 range. You still have to pay postage.

Yes that's right, it's simply a £39 off voucher that you can use on anything.

I'm so sorry. The phones are also under strain, but when you get through one of our customer service team would be able to take your order. It might end up being less frustrating.

There is likely to be a bit of a wait on the phones too over the next few days though.

2) I'm looking for a nice pair for my wedding on 31st July and then obviously for everyday use - anyway I can have them delivered before then?

I've asked for these to be pushed through, so you should definitely have them for your wedding. Good luck!

Dear valued customer,
We recognise that some customers experienced problems in redeeming their vouchers at Glasses Direct’s website.
We were in constant dialogue with Glasses Direct throughout and would like to thank them for being so reactive and for kindly extending the period of their 2-for-1 offer to ensure that you have sufficient time to purchase your new pair(s!) of glasses.
Here is a message from their Managing Director Kevin Cornils:
“Some of you may have had problems whilst visiting the site, this was due to the overwhelming uptake of the deal, which caused the Glasses Direct site to slow down this afternoon when the deal opened. This in turn made it difficult for some customers to purchase. We would like to assure you that this issue will be resolved shortly, but, to make sure that all Groupon customers have enough time to search for and find the right pair of glasses for them, Glasses Direct has agreed to:
1) Extend the 2-for-1 from £39 promotion through to noon, August 5th. From August 5th the 2-for-1 promotion entry price will move to £49 as originally planned for August 1st.
2) We have also committed to ensure that stock levels at the £39 entry point are maintained, and will lower prices on other ranges as necessary to ensure that’s the case. And don’t forget your voucher can be used for any purchase on the website, including any of our designer frames or sunglasses.

Given the increase in site traffic, you might consider buying your glasses at a less busy time over the next few days , and should feel free to contact our customers services team at ask@glassesdirect.co.uk should you have any questions or issues with your vouchers or purchase. We hope that you enjoy your next pair of new glasses from Glasses Direct.”
We trust that you will enjoy your new glasses and as always, go to www.groupon.co.uk today to see what fabulous deal we have on offer!
Kind regards.

I don't mean to badger on but just wanted to offer some friendly advice to people who do go ahead with internet spectacle purchases.
Its not just p.d's that need to be taken into account. You need to get the b.v.d measurement, heights as well as optical centres measured for a proper fitting pair of specs. This is especially important for anyone with a prescription over 3-4 dioptres. You'll feel dizzy and 'cross-eyed' if the specs aren't fitted properly and will probably get headaches as a result. If you have a much lower prescription than this you might get away with it

Those talking of prisms should really go to an optician to get proper fitting. You can do real harm if you mess around with prisms.

good luck to everyone
