Yes she sounds like she could well be a control freak but you're not been there long yet - it may take her a while to trust and let go. There is also the possibility that she is not capable of changing so while it may help to raise the issue with her - it might still not change anything... Glad you've got a helpful brother that is always nice...
I suspect she is like this with everyone (as an email she sent was directed at me and another worker who has been there for 6 months). I also don't think she would change and potentially a conversation could make things worse. It was great to chat to my brother even though I told him that I pontentially would not be taking his advice to try and make things better, and rather, would quit.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks all for the excellent advice.
I had a good chat to OH yesterday and he is not convinced that I will feel any better in a weeks time if I quit, due to me worrying about the debt. He also feels my low mood is mainly attributed to being homesick. I do agree with him.
So I have decided to try and stick the job out until I can go on mat leave at 29 weeks. I am also going to see if I can take my annual leave entitlement before that, which (if I am lucky) might mean I can go around 22/23 weeks. I have also agreed to take this on a week to week basis and just quit if I am feeling it is too much.
When I take it I will go home to Ireland for a few weeks so I can rest up before baby number 2 is born and OH will take some annual leave off around then, so Max isn't too long without his Daddy.
I did forget to mention but all being well, OH is due to transfer to the new section of his job in June & will need to put in extra hours and study so it might work out well if we aren't around.
Now - I would be grateful if someone could advise me on how to tell my boss that I want to leave so early. I will email the HR manager to find out about annual leave, but if I am going at 23 weeks that just leaves another 9 weeks of work.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Just caught up with what has been going on with you. Sounds awful how your boss is treating you.
Think it sounds like you have come to a good idea to stick it out till maternity leave.
Might be worth waiting till latest you can to tell boss when you are leaving (not sure what the rules are) then at least she won't make things even harder on you.
Anyway I hope apart from all of this you are OK x0 -

Thanks for the support Wendz
I think I will find out what the situation is with annual leave, work out when I can go and then tell my boss as there are people I would really let down if I just gave her a months notice: young people and really nice colleagues. I don't care what my boss thinks. She can't be anymore pernickety than she is being!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hey CMD.
Glad you've made your decision to stick. It'll be easier anyway as you know you have a choice. Hope it gets better at work though.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Hey CMD! Keeping my fingers crossed you break past the 14k mark this month, that would be amazing :j
Really sorry to hear about your work. She sounds like a real cowbag, I used to work in my family office (like I do now!) back when I was 16 and there was my 'boss' lady who sounds the same kinds of awful. I just upped and left as I was better than her petty ways. I think you're making the right choice staying until ML, and then having some time back home. Hope you're feeling alright x0 -

Thanks Tir,
I just found out yesterday that as well as being expected to work most Saturdays (which I wasn't made clear in the interview, I thought it would be every 2nd/3rd Saturday) I also have to attend a full weekend training session in 4 parts of the UK (1 near me) before the end of June.
When I told OH he got really angry.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks Cinny. I just keep getting 'extra' stuff to do and don't see how I can do it on a part-time basis. It really needs a full-time worker.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hmmm, that sounds really annoying CMD. Hope you get your work arrangement sorted out for better. How many weeks would you be there if you could leave early on annual leave?DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
