Does anyone know if both my boyfriend and I will be able to apply for this seperately if we have a joint current account?

    Thanks

I have just opened 2 accounts, one in my name and one in my wifes. We have a joint current account so I dont think you will have a problem.
  • I think this might be a little too good to be true. Just noticed this post in the Savings and Investments forum entitled "ING - FREE £20 for Opening an Account with £1.00":

And if you look further down the smallprint it says:

"Promotional offer is limited to the addressee only or members of the household at which the addressee lives."

Sounds like it's all by invitation only.

    How can they tell?

Applied. Nothing mentioned about sending a cheque during application or receipt, paid my £1 by debit card so i assume all is good and i it is set up....

So when does the £20 come :)

    Great find.

You have it credited to the account within 28 day's. :j

I though it was on their homepage but its not, justchecked, but even if it is invitation only, youve lost nothing at the end of the day.

Working for me now but I must not have closed my account as it said they already had my details - doh!

  • After reading about the excitement this offer is creating it is important to set the record straight in order to avoid disappointment.
This offer is STRICTLY limited to the addressee only, or members of the household at which the addressee lives. If someone not meeting these conditions uses the promotion code the first they will learn that they haven’t qualified is after we check their name and address back with our original mailing list and the £20 credit does not appear on their new account statement.

    Hi folks,

Sadly, ING have told us that they won't be paying out the £20 unless applicants fulfil all criteria, which include having been sent the offer directly.

We have written a news article on this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/banking/2010/07/savers-to-miss-out-on-20-bonus

Before everyone gets too despondent this is NOT the first time ING have stated that a promotional offer Is only for the household which received the leaflet/E-mail drop.
I opened an ING account a couple of years ago along with dozens of others after finding that offer here on MSE. That promotion was also for intended recipients only apparently.

I got my £50 (more back then) just as many others here did !
