Did mine and it asked fpr it by debit card, so I'll presume that's been taken until I hear differently. I have a cheque book on my account that I've never used...

Did everyone get a confirmation email immediately after opening their account? I opened mine 10 minutes ago but haven't received anything. I definitely completed the application because the last screen says "You have now reached the end of your online application." Its given me the account number and customer number.

I'm wondering if I should just send off the cheque.

I think it takes up to 24 hrs to come........if I have remembered correctly!! ;)

    :T funnyguy for the post!

Thanks for this. I took the plunge and they didn't ask for a cheque. Made deposit via debit card. Don't knowif it made a difference but I set up a direct debit to take a lump sum out of my bank every month
    Total Debts: £1,500
    Total Cashback Received: £3,965.21:beer:

So did I. Maybe that's why our emails are different?

Worth noting that if you're planning to have a large balance with them, ING Direct are not covered by the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) £50,000 protection if they go belly up (which is not too far fetched in this current climate).

Thanks op! Opened mine this morning - by phone though as kept getting error message on the online link to open account.
Also man on phone said he'd see if my debit card gave the option of a deposit so either it's random or depends who you bank with? My current account is hsbc and need to send cheque.
