    Dear Mrs. M******,

Thank you for your recent online application to open an ING Direct account.

As soon as your first deposit has been credited to your account and regulatory checks have been carried out satisfactorily we will send you your Welcome Pack. This should arrive in approximately 3 business days.

Once you receive your Welcome Pack you will be able to access your account online and over the telephone using the security details that you set up as part of your account application.

We'll notify you when your quarterly statement is ready for viewing online, via this email address.
For cash ISA tax year 2010/2011 customers only

Please note, from the day we receive your initial cash ISA funding deposit, in accordance with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) guidelines, you will have 30 days should you want to cancel your cash ISA subscription with ING Direct. If you cancel your subscription within this 30 day period, you will be entitled to open a cash ISA with another provider within the same tax year.

Please note that you will not be able to reply to this email, however if you do have any questions, please visit ingdirect.co.uk or call us on 0845 603 8888.

Thank you for saving with ING Direct.

    Yours sincerely

Oh, and from their welcome email:
Thank you for your recent online application to open an ING Direct account.

In order to complete the account opening process, please send us the following:

    1. A cheque for at least £1. This should be made payable to yourself (the name must be exactly the same as the one given on your application) from the account you have designated as your linked account. Please write your ING Direct Customer Number and Account Number on the back of the cheque. If you are opening a joint account we will need a separate cheque from both of you, one from each linked account. If you have selected a joint current account as your linked account we only require one cheque made payable to both account holders.

Once you have your cheque(s) ready, please send it to the following freepost address:

    ING Direct
    FREEPOST NATW1784
    Reading
    Berkshire
    RG6 1BR

If we have required any original documentation to process your application, we will check it and return it to you promptly. Once your cheque(s) and documents (if applicable) have been received and regulatory checks have been carried out satisfactorily, we will then send you your welcome pack. Once you have activated your PIN and set a memorable date (or in the case of joint accounts, both of you have activated your security details), you will be able to use your account to carry out transactions.

If you have requested a quarterly online statement for your account, we'll notify you when it's ready for viewing online, via this email address. Otherwise, you will receive your paper statement at the beginning of each quarter.

Do what I did, ring them, get transferred to security who will change your bank account details over to a cheque account, then you still have to send the cheque, pain in the aS* but it's still £20 for 15 mins effort, bit annoyed, wifes went through online ok with a debit card for £1, mine wants a cheque, think it may be random security checks kicking in

  • Did everyone get a confirmation email immediately after opening their account? I opened mine 10 minutes ago but haven't received anything. I definitely completed the application because the last screen says "You have now reached the end of your online application." Its given me the account number and customer number.

I'm wondering if I should just send off the cheque.
  • Check your junk box. Thats where mine went.
