I closed my last ING account nearly a year ago. Do you think I could still get the £20 bonus? Shall I try it online or give them a call? I dont really want the rate just the bonus as I have a vantage account for the actual savings.

Don't bother if you don't have a cheque book, like my HSBC Green Current Account, the helpline said that a cheque book is a minimum requirement to open a savings account with them and if I wanted one I would need to open a completely new current account to link with it.

In this day and age that is totally bizarre.

Yes, I closed an account exactly 12 months ago and was told I did qualify for the £20 when opening earlier.........as per the T&C's

You can ONLY make the initial deposit via cheque from the same linked account you specify.
