Worth noting that if you're planning to have a large balance with them, ING Direct are not covered by the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) £50,000 protection if they go belly up (which is not too far fetched in this current climate).

ING Direct has chosen to be covered by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee scheme, which in fact has cover almost double that of the UK scheme €100,000 vs £50,000.0

I opened one last night, it wouldnt accept my debit card although all the card details were correct, but it did take the £1 deposit from my linked bank account, had a confirmation email and it says nothing about sending a cheque. I bank with natwest.
ive been looking for a savings account for a while, as withdrawals with this one can take 3 days, its a great way to stop me impulse buying.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
