...the present government is of the opinion that perhaps 20% of present claimants are not entitled.

They've admitted that close to 0.6% of claims are believed to be fraudulent. Speculation (yes I know that's not fact) is that the criteria will be changed, the bar raised so to speak, thus reducing the number of awards. It has nothing to do with current claimants not being entitled and a medical check-up 'weeding' them out.

I'm a taxpayer. I wonder how much stuff I provide for you...

Not a lot. I have been a taxpayer for 50 years.

I receive £55 a week SRP and still pay £40 a week income tax. Don't think I cost the taxpayer much if anything in the overall scheme of things.

I would imagine if we all had a personal balance sheet that mine would be well in credit.

Many taxpayers pay more than £40 a week tax. And they don't get the prescriptions, money off glasses and free prescriptions like you do.

Not a lot? I bet the fire service, ambulance, police, NHS, etc. will be delighted to hear that.

When I was last working, so 9 years ago, I paid over £700 per month income tax.

I get a free sight test but no money off my glasses. Yes i get my 2 prescription items free but as they are generic items costing just pennies i would be more than happy to pay for them. Still you appear to know nothing about everything so would expect you to get things wrong.

As for police, fire brigade etc I was under the impression that our council tax went some way towards that. We pay CT in full.

Now you're just being picky, there are many other services including the NHS that are paid for by taxes that benefit you. What about the winter fuel allowance, as just one example?

I don't really understand why you have such a problem with some disadvantaged members of society getting a helping hand.

I can't speak for Kriss, but certainly the way I read her posts is that she dislikes people who fraudently claim DLA, and we all know these people exist. ;)
