'you should not enter unless it is necessary.'
wrt the police, you'll be fine so long as they think it's necessary you overtake, otherwise they'll pull you.
And you probably pebble dashed all the cars you overtook with the rubbish and the old tyres that's always on the cross hatchings.0 -
While I'm at it, here's a few more obscure ones that many people don't realise
Note that the second one is almost always a bad idea and is likely to be judged as dangerous driving except in perfect circumstances such as a 4 mile long straight of that design with nothing coming the other way.
Also note that #3 doesn't have to be a tractor or JCB, anything going under 10mph counts whether it's a bike, a really old Rover 200 or an articulated lorry. Of course you must be absolutely certain that nothing is coming so it's still going to be dangerous driving if you do it on a blind corner.0 -

Not quite right
Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
[Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 26]
quite specific, doesn't mention a Rover 200, and it's 10mph0 -
Poor drawing on my part and an unfortunate typo. Corrected now thanks. And I guess I was wrong on the vehicle type, thought it was just the speed that mattered.0

Some people just don't like being overtaken. Most drive too close to the car in front and when you suddenly( I say suddenly as to them it is sudden as they haven't been checking their mirrors)appear and try to pull into the space in front of them they see it as pushing in which goes against the British sense of fair play.If I myself am looking for an oppurtunity to overtake and someone passes me then I find it a bit annoying but other than that I just let them get on with it.
I'd sooner someone overtook me quickly and safely than tailgate me for 5 miles because they think I am going too slow.0
