Goldtrail Holidays

Another mess and one that although smaller than XL has hit at the peak of the season when seats to Turkey will be hard to find. Since posting the first warning of Goldtrail's collapse, a number of issues have come to light. If you have booked a package holiday direct with Goldtrail and have an invoice from them, you are fully protected by the ATOL scheme. If you paid by credit card, contact them and make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, otherwise look here and download a claim form from the CAA http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=2036&pagetype=90
If you booked flights direct with Goldtrail you should also have no problems in getting a refund as stated above. The problems begin if you booked through a different company who have told you your flights were booked with Goldtrail. If the company you paid the money to sent you proof of booking such as a Goldtrail invoice, you should be OK but many agents didn't do this and some agents were simply buying seats to create a package which they then sold to customers at a single price. If that is your situation, you are unlikley to have any contract with Goldtrail at all and cannot claim against the company's ATOL, you must insist the company you bought your package from replaces the flights with alternatives, at their own expense, or gives you a full refund.
Once again the dangers of buying pieces of holidays from different suppliers has been proved to be correct, it may be great to save money this way, but when things go wrong you may find you can either make no claim at all or only for the flights and the contract for the accommodation remains valid. In this situation ask your agent if you are insured against supplier failure, although whether any insurers were offering protection against the collapse of Goldtrail remains to be seen.0 -
Bookable holidays phone so called 'customer services' line is now a DEAD line!!!! The plot thickens!!!
Can anyone with any number for Bookable please post it up here, as they don't publish any phone numbers (afaik).
:eek::mad:0 -
The above telephone line is now working - so panic over.
However, In the meantime I was googling Bookable Holidays to try and find some other phone numbers when I came across a site called the review centre dot com forward slash reviews - some unpleasant tales about Bookable on there - might be worth a read to some.0 -
The best number i found to contact Bookable on is 0871 210 9000 - you'll get someone (anyone!) answer the phone fairly quickly and then you'll be put on hold for a "customer care" advisor.0

I tried all Saturday to get through to Bookable holidays, with no such luck, then emailed them three times. I tried again yesterday and after a few attempts, managed to get through after holding for 30 minutes, a few times. I spoke with someone, who promised a callback re my available options to my packaged holiday booked through them for Olu Deniz in Turkey, for 1 Aug. I actually got a callback a short while later and spoke with a nice lady called Sam who was very helpful and explained the options available. Bookable booked my flight through Goldtrail but my hotel is through another company and not affected. They offered alternative flights, but on another date and want an extra £800 just for the flights , on top of the £1,000 that we have just paid for the packaged holiday, but advised we could reclaim back the cost of the original flights through ATOL, this would still have cost us an extra £300, even after claiming the full cost back. Alternativly, a full claim on total holiday, flight and hotel, through ATOL, less admin charge of approx £80. I have still to make a decision as my partner is in Berlin currently. Although, as I only booked this holiday, a week ago, I am still awaiting my confirmation invoice, so have advised Sam I can only make a decision once this is received. The contact telephone number I had was 0871 855 6699. Good luck, all.0

I booked a holiday over the phone to Turkey through Sun4U Ltd (directed to them from Teletext Holidays) - anyone had dealings with them?
I understood it was a package holiday and when paying, gave my card number (Visa Debit - not credit) to the lady on the phone. When I got all the email confirmations through, one was from Sun4U showing the flight details and flight numbers and the accommodation details and cost. I then got a separate one from Goldtrail with my flight details and cost (with breakdown). When booking, I had no idea it would be done separately and only ever gave my card number to Sun4U - I had no direct dealings with Goldtrail at all. On my bank statement, the accommodation is showing as being paid to Sun4U, with a separate amount for "Quickstep Leisure New Maldon", who I believe are Goldtrail, for the amount of the flights - again, this was not explained when booking and I was provided with the total cost on the phone when booking - not a breakdown.
I have tried calling Sun4U, but was just told that we have to wait until they contact us, which they are doing in date order, and we "should" get a call in about a week or so. I cannot afford to rebook different flights, and even so, my undertstanding was that it was a package and I wasn't booking flights separately to accommodation - it was all sold as one deal, but showed separately on my bank statements afterwards.
Does anyone else have anything booked through Sun4U, or have any thoughts on whether I would be covered for the full cost of the holiday? I have already downloaded and completed a copy of the ATOL claim form, but thought I would ask for further advice/thoughts before sending it off, as I'm not putting any confidence in actually being contacted by the travel agent.0 -
I just got through to Bookable on the 0871 210 9000 that sandiuk listed, not much use though to be honest. Apparently even although the 08718556699 number is very busy and you should try again later there is apparently no one working there just now. Now I wonder who is making a tidy sum from all the calls??? I am considering setting up a facebook group asking all other Bookable Holidays customers who cannot get through to start calling their new bookings number in an attempt to make them deal with the current situation.
I had also been looking at booking other flights with Viking Airlines however there are now none left, prices were dropping when I last looked £318 for 3 passengers. If your not fast your last springs to mind Bookable.
Can £80 admin fee be right? I think I would be checking with ATOL about that, sounds like one of Bookables wee extras. Like the £70 room upgrade which rapidly got cut down to £35 and then we discovered it didn't exist as all the rooms where we aere to be staying are the same. I have my confirmation however all it is good for is showing that the holiday was booked as a package with one invoice amount which is good according to trading standards.
Also the flight prices are very high, a collegue of mine (not booked through Bookable) who had flights booked with goldtrail through another agent got new flights to Crete for an additonal £25 each person in the group.
Unfortunately it would appear that Bookable aren't very professional and are quite happy to sit back and do nothing.0 -
hmmm... i booked through the seemingly notorious 'bookable holidays' and have an invoice for a 'goldtrail' flight although the accomodation is not nor the transfers. with the cost of flights now rocketing sky high and no contact from 'bookable holidays', does anyone know how I stand? can I claim for the whole holiday?0

My friend and I are booked to go to Crete on Friday with Bookable Holidays and haven't had any info from the either despite emailing them. I was thinking that maybe it would be best to seek a refund directly through Atol to avoid their admin charges. Also wondered about whether its worth trying to claim on the visa debit card we used to pay for the holiday (Chargeback scheme). I guess that we have to wait to hear from Bookable holidays first. What if we don;t hear from them? What do other members think?0

For all Bookable Holidays customers, their website is asking people to fill in this form:
http://www.bookableholidays.co.uk/ContactUs/
It also states: "Goldtrail: Don't worry you're fully covered". I have no idea if any of you have tried this, and whether it will be succesful for you, just saw it and thought it may help.0
