Well I've just been on LBC radio asking the travel expert Simon Calder about our situation. He says it sounds like I have a package and to wait for several days to get it resolved through the TA. I can't see there will be enough flights to go around for 50,000 people to be re-booked onto.

Simon is asking for other travellers to phone in - the number is: 08456060973 (I think- check the LBC website). He is on air right now until 3pm.

Im fully aware that they chartered full flights I am a travel agent lol

They purchased seats from Viking airlines also

    Delwyn

AFAIK Goldtrail chartered aircrafts(from the likes of Onur/Saga) not just seats - So its whole aircrafts that wont be going!!

At a guess i would say Goldtrail had at least 15% market share of Turkish hols/flights -Thats a big gap that has just been created!! For peeps wanting to book last minute & the businesses in the Turkish resorts its not good news!

So Delwyn, for those who aren't going for a few weeks and have time to see how the land lies, might it be the case that there's a chance they will be able to get those same seats through a different agent or direct from Viking etc.?

  • Hi
i am too caught up in the goldtrail circle
we had booked a holiday through icelolly who took us through to your holidays who used goldtrail and they used viking airways and a hotel aswell in Rhodes ,Now ive tried to get through to your holidays to re book with no luck and because the holiday was for our honeymoon we have went to hays travel and re booked anthor holiday we had no choice as we were going the day we get married on the 11th august and didnt want to chance your holidays saying we couldnt transfer to a new holiday etc turns out its actually the same flight we were going to fly with anyway and the same time, viking airways(This is the re booked holiday)
what i need to know is the orignal holiday was booked on a credit card so do we claim it back through them first or claim through the atol website etc and if your holidays actually turn round and say we can re book your holiday at no extra charge will i be able reject this and go ahead to claim refund still even though we now re booked anthor holiday ?

any advice at all would be great please

You should of only booked your flights not a full holiday, the agent you have booked with will now apply cancellation fees to hotel only side of the booking

I assume you have booked a full holiday with Hays now

  • Yeah we have now booked a full holiday with hays now this is only because we couldnt get through to your holidays and with lack of info as to what they were doing in terms of re booking peopler or just saying people could claim a refund ,and also because it was our honeymoon aswell ,So will i still get the money back from them or claim through credit card im so confused as to what i need to do ,Ive even tried to get through to yourholidays again today who have now put a message on saying you will be contacted on how to claim a refund back so im guessing this means they probaly dont want to take the hit and get everyone to claim the money back when i was speaking to hays yesterday they told me the were just re booking all there customers on new holidays and they were taking the hit and claiming the money back not the customers ?? any advice on that at all in terms of refund ,thanks for advice so far

I booked with Lowcostholidays (who incidentally also have a random hang-up policy...think they make a bit more money on premium numbers for this?) Yesterday I was told that I had four options- cancel flights, cancel holiday, move dates by one day, move departure airport....but nothing was available for Turkey- in fact may as well have gone to the Seychelles for the price some companies were asking!

Anyway was supposed to be going to Marmaris on Tuesday night and as Turkey flights were hundreds of pounds each way remembered we were planning on going to go to Rhodes for the day by ferry, so managed to book a flight to Rhodes through the flyviking website for the Wednesday. Flight gets in at around noon, so a bit of a wait but 13km from airport to the port, then a Catamaran at 4pm arriving in Marmaris at 5. Okay maybe not ideal, and will have to pay for an extra nights stay, and the ferry (63 euros pp open return) but the flights worked out the same price as the ones we bought. The company have told me they will refund our flights and transfers (do you think they may be blagging me about the transfers?) and I have to write to them asking for a refund...Does this mean they will be sending ATOL forms?

Anyway...just thought I'd mention there ARE some flights available to Rhodes available now for 5.30 am Weds for £180 return (once you add on baggage and charges). Although the catamaran and taxi will cost too, it's another option and a much cheaper one than Dalaman flights. Rhodes is gorgeous too-so you get to see two places for one.

Hope you all find what you need. All the best

You will best sent forms to fill in from the CAA who will give you the money back that was paid on the flights

Because you have booked a hotel with Hays now, the original hotel booking is still live with the original company

Just wanted to check... Lowcostholidays have stated to me that they will refund the cost of the entire holiday if necessary, booked on-line including transfers and accommodation. Does anyone know if this is actually true? Just want to make sure I'll be getting the right part of my package back- ie flights and transfers. Will the CAA cover transfers too, or just the flights? And if not, who does?

    Thanks!

I'm going to turkey in sept, booked flights through thomsonfly, so we are ok

our accommodation is booked through lowcostholidays, we paid in full for this, i've looked at my booking and my invoice, and nowhere does it say who they have booked my accommodation with.

could there be a chance it is goldtrail

i hope all of you people get your holidays/flights sorted out, i've been in that position, and it's not nice.
