Great stuff! Congrats that you've been uneffected! :T0 -
Thanks for the heads up on this. Guess its my turn for this horrible thing to happen.
I've tried again and again ringing Bookable Holidays (my TA) but when they answer the phone and I start to speak (calmly and politely) they bang the phone down on me or say they will transfer me and the phone goes dead straight away - perhaps I should try the angry frustrated customer instead?!).
I paid by CC through Bookable - who in turn used Goldtrail as our flights and another company for the hotel.
All I want to know is:
1. Is it up to me to re-book the flights?
2. Who does the refund (if any) come from? and do I claim and with whom?
3. Would any extra costs for flights be covered if I had to re book and pay more?
4. If there are not any alternative flights do I cut my losses and look for another holiday (the hotel part of the holiday is peanuts compared to the flights).
I'd be grateful for some replies. Thanks very much and thanks again to Alan for bringing to my attention.
I've tried looking up alternative flights with all suggested on this thread and more, but those dates are taken. We leave the beginning of August.
Anyone any idea what the answers might be.0 -
hello, i have booked a holiday through goldtrail, its a package holiday to turkey for a week. im due to leave tomorrow...
i paid with a credit card. will i be able to claim my money back?
if so, how?
oh and i also had cancellation cover on travel insurance.
I'm in the same situation (due to go 9th Aug) but don't have the cancellation cover. I paid by CC.
According to the CAA,
http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1052&pagetype=70&gid=1053&faqid=682
we should make the claim through our CC company.0 -

Hi,
I can't answer your questions definitively because each TA may offer differing help, but mine (Hays) has said we need to book our own flights again and cover the cost. I did not pay by credit card so will make a claim with caa/atol.
I managed to book us some more flights (with the financial help of my dad, bless him, till the refund comes!) so at least we can still go on holiday! What dates do you want to travel and where from/to? Maybe we can help you search and salvage something from this mess we find ourselves in!

From what I understand, if you booked Goldtrail flights through Hays like we did, you are not covered by Hays, so they have no responsibility to find you another flight etc, but your flight is atol protected so you (like me) will need to file an atol claim and we will eventually (!) get our money back.

I thought the whole point was if you booked through a middle man and not direct that they did have a responsibility to help you find another flight, and to the poster who didnt take Hays insurance thats rubbish as well. Thomas cook did have loads of cheap flights to turkey but i dont think they'll be there now but you could have a look.0 -

I'd hoped the same too, but the below is taken from Hays' website and that's the stance they took when we called. They wrehappy to see if they had another flight for us of course, but they were much more expensive than ones I could find myself so I didn't take them.

Happened to us too, booked for 31st August.
Booked via onthebeach, their holidays aren't package holidays so if we don't get alternative flights we can possibly lose the money for the accommadation.
My mum found info saying they (onthebeach) advise we wait to rebook our flights until once availability improves as prices in the short term are very high.
However if we want to attempt to cancel for a full refund on accomm and flights we have to do it right away according to onthebeach.
Sounds like a gamble to me, what if we wait and then the flights are still too expensive, or none are available for they days our accomm is booked. Does there become a time when it's too late to try claim for a full refund?:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

We're due to fly out to Rhodes this Wednesday..... we found the holiday through IceLolly.com , but our flights were done through Goldtrail and I THINK our hotel accommodation was done through another company "Medhotels.com
We are in limbo tonight as I was awoken this morning with a Courtesy call telling me the company had gone into administration and that their first priority was to get people home from abroad, which I can totally understand. We're so unsure about what to do tonight as they say that they will try to get us other flights, but I'm not sure whether to just try and book flights ourselves as we have booked a car etc at the other end and then just do a claim back on our Credit Card?
On our form from them it just gives 1 total and not a breakdown, so I would be unsure of what to claim......also, if the flights turn our to be more expensive, do I have any claim back under the Section 75?
Sorry, so confused and unsure what to do..
Any help, would be gratefully received by us.
