Thank you ever so much-that's a relief! I'd read lots of things saying I might not be covered if I only booked flights and not a package deal?

OK so I need to speak to Hays then get booking another flight.

As far as I know all Goldtrail bookings are ATOL protected as they were a tour operator using chartered airlines. Even flight only should be covered. I'd get on the phone to Hays as soon as they open and see what help they can offer.
Where does my friend stand who booked her flights direct with goldtrail (I feel so bad cos I found the hol for her!!)? Does she just go direct to atol/caa and then book another flight or should she not bother with them and go through her CC company (I think she booked using her CC).

Your friend should just book alternative flights ASAP with another provider. She will have to claim afterwards for the Goldtrail booking from either ATOL or her credit card. Its unfortunate that this has happened over the weekend as information from ATOL will probably be slow. In previous cases ATOL have advised those who booked on a credit card to go straight to the credit card company.

I was in this situation last year when Freedom direct holidays went into administration. I managed to get my money back through the visa debit card charge back. I rang Barclays bank and they sent me a claim form. Hope this info helps and goodluck

    When can chargeback be used?

Like section 75, chargeback can be used in cases of goods not arriving, arriving damaged, arriving not as described, or where the merchant has ceased trading.
Claims must be addressed to the bank that provides your Visa debit card or your credit card, which in turn will put in a request to the merchant’s bank. As a result, you should still get your money back from the merchant's bank, even if the merchant has ceased to trade

I paid via credit card for flights, transfers & hotel accomodation, all at the same time from Travel Republic.

I got an email this morning telling me about Goldtrail, so I logged onto Travel Republic's website & booked an alternative flight.

Travel republic have just told me that my second flight booking is no longer available.

I've tried to find alternative flights on the web - Travel republic is engaged - & none available.

I know I can get the flight money back from ATOL/credit card, but what about transfers & accommodation refund?

I cant see anything on travel republic website or ATOL website.

    Thoughts anyone?

Remember that if you've booked through a credit card that Section 75 make the credit card company liable for the provision of goods and services. Therefore you are not merely entitled to a refund but an equivalent flight/holiday even if that is more expensive.
