ah, very interesting, at last someone else in a similar predicament.
We also booked through a Travel Agent - who used Goldtrail for the flights. However, having read several websites today many Travel Agents have phoned their customers. However, not only have Bookable not told us by phone or email but I spent all day on hold then when i eventually got through they banged the phone down on me. I wasnt even unpleasant.
We dont know what to do either. they could at least put something on their website.
All the ATOL, CAA and Auc (or wotever its called) state info for people who have an entire holiday booked with Goldtrail. there is zero info for people like us.
Its very frustrating.0 -

I am in exactly the same situation as you Ponkle22. We booked a holiday with Bookable Holidays to Rhodes which is supposed to depart on Wed the 21st of July. Unfortunately Bookable had booked our flights through Goldtrail so it looks like there will be no holiday now. We booked everything through Bookable as a package and paid only one amount so having spoken to Trading Standards our holiday is legally considered to be a "package" even although Bookable have used various operators to construct the pakage.
It is good to see that some people have had a call from their travel agents however communictaion does not appear to be a strong point with Bookable Holidays. Is it right that us innocent customers have to call them at our expense only to wait around and then get the phone slammed down on us??? Completely unacceptable and an absolute disgrace. A change to there website or a circular e mail would be adequate at the moment but for all us people who don't know what is happening.
At a time like this when we are advised to speak to our Travel Agent we should be able to get a hold of them. Does anyone know if we can claim from ATOL/CAA before we have spoken to our Travel Agent as I don't think I will ever hear from Bookable again. I assume we can't as Bookable Holidays would be Goldtrails customer.
Its about time the Government done somethign about this far too many of these companies are failing and the public are left in the dark without any assistance waiting for what can be years to recieve their hard earned money back.
I wish all my fellow Bookable Holidays non travellers all the best with what is going to be a hard slog.

I agree with you Grant. We have NOTHING in writing from Bookable to say the flight part has been cancelled and what to do next. Which means if we rebook we have nothing to cover us from the TA. What happens if they decide they have flights available to transfer us onto but in the meantime we have decided to re-book our own flights? Are we still able to make a successful claim and then with whom? Do we try ATOL or go straight to the credit card company?
All Bookable need do is update their website, then their phone staff would not be inundated with phone calls from thousands of people like us.
In fact, the message on their website is a joke. Apparently if we fill in the form someone will get 'straight back to us'. I'm still waiting!
Let me know if you have any luck with them. You should be able to private message me.
Good luck.

This is what annoys me that as travel agents we all get tarred with the same brush. As a high street travel agent each time these things have happened XL going bust, ash cloud event etc etc, straight away we have contacted our customers and sorted out their problems, helped them claim money back from Atol, helped them fill their forms in found them new flights etc or given them their money back and 99% of our customers leave happy and will definitely come back to us. The problem mainly is when people have booked over the telephone or via the internet and all you can do is ring or email and if those Travel agents choose to delay help then you're up the creek without a paddle not knowing whether to book new flights or not. So to all those people out there deciding whether to save a few quid doing it themselves think again as to how gutted you'd be if days before you're due to go it all falls apart and these telephone and internet companies wont answer you.0 -
Hi Guys
I aint read through the thread so here is my advice
Your TA will send you CAA forms to claim the money back for your package holiday or flights booked with Goldtrail this may take some time to request the refund
If you are defo wanting to still go away on your holiday get something booked asap becasue the flights are going up by the minute
We are trying to cancel the hotel only bookings with suppliers for customers travelling within the next week FOC
Some of the operators are letting us cancel if the booking is outside 48 hours FOC
If you need any help get in touch

Hi Del,
I've just rebooked as managed to get through to bookable - they say I have to wait for them to phone me but that I could rebook my flight and claim back through them from ATOL. However, as Bookable charged me a package price I have no idea how much they will claim the flights cost in the first instance, especially I booked in January when prices would have been cheap. We can only go by the fact our hotel is dirt cheap (we went last year to same hotel with Bookable) that the flight cost is a decent amount.
You are correct Del - the flights went up £15 per person overnight - the ones I wanted anyway.
Presume you are only cancelling hotel part for those who want the hotel part cancelled? We wish to keep our hotel. In fact, its the only time we have ever booked to go to the same hotel twice in a row - it was so good and ticked all the boxes that wasn't worth potentially being disappointed elsewhere.
When I eventually hear from Bookable are they liable to tell me how much the flight part of the booking is worth? I really need to know this.
Many thanks.

You will get a full refund for the flights

That's great Del, but I don't know how much the flights were. Bookable book the flights and hotel separtely but then charge you one total price, so I've absolutely no idea much money I'm entitled to as a refund.
So, I need to know if by law Bookable are obliged to tell me how much of the package cost are for flights? I have rebooked flights but no idea how much I'm expecting back as a refund. Can they make it up as they see fit?0 -
The CAA will refund you all of the flight cost bookable cant keep anything back you will get back exactlly what was paid for them
