  • Given that you haven't changed your rather beaurocratic approach and ways of thinking I as always will move on - and judge by what I know not what you would like to invent. You ignored (several times) the examples I gave because it didn't suit your idealism; I have told you that I will never cater to your whims at my own expense by giving details which would help a dishonest rep or dealer. All you are waiting for is the slightest trigger to jump in and say this dealer has improved and means well, was beset by problems outside its own control (bird flu etc wasn't it?), the sun shines out of the rep's rear end whilst he continued to produce absolute lies - oh, yes, and you and one or two others took exception to my warnings to the extent that you now agree the substance was absolutely correct BUT you'd have preferred me "kicked off" so people could only read your soothing reassurances and excuses for this dealer and its now invisible rep.

In other words, what you say is neither authoritative or knowledgeable and it would be dangerous to rely on the messages you give out.

For heaven's sake M O V E O N and the bits in red above are total distortions - it is your obsessive self-anointment that has always got my goat and NOT your knowledge. Read again some of my posts and you will see that.

Any objective person will see some validity and reasoned argument in my recent posts on this thread and also observe that your recent ones are personal digs at me with old history being dragged up again and again rather than being helpful or in any way objective.
  • Why would I read the rubbish you post more than once? I'll always move on because of focus on the actual and not the theoretical; I'll leave that to you. As for personal digs, there ain't any more personal than calling for me to be chucked off when I actually give (even by your own admission) VERY sound advice - based on experience and knowledge.
  • It's amazing to see these posts are still going. I'm knew to this but I've seen hundreds of complaints over various sites, although it may seem a stupid question; should i use this site? It is the cheapest deal I have found (I'm after a samsung galaxy s) and so I'm thinking just to try it and hope for the best. Is it just a small percentage chance they wont give cashback?

It won't be any percentage at all as long as you don't allow it to.
Just stick to their (easy) T&C's and don't allow them to breach their own T&C's and you will be fine if you do your bit correctly.
A lot of isues of late have been with customers who for one reason or other have allowed Mobiles.co.uk to simply "get away with it".
The other "iffy bit" tends to be with sending in bills by using the online system - either just use Royal Mail (signed for) or send in by email with Royal Mail as back-up.

    Welcome to MSE.

  • Thanks for the swift reply Lynsey.

So at the mo the company seems to be a little bit more legitimate?
So far, I have phoned the company to enquire about the service they provide, but due to being left on hold for 20 minutes I left it.

Am I correct to think that when you sign up to such a contract you receive a bill SEPARATE to say, your monthly current account bill. from here you simply send a scanned copy of the bill (on the online form) and/or a recorded copy of the bill to a designated address and then hope for a reply?

Sorry if I'm not being too clear, I'm still new to all this :P

You won't get a separate bill Nick, just the one from your network. Just think of Mobiles.co.uk as the introducer. You will end up with two contracts, one with Mobiles.co.uk for the phone and cashback and one with your chosen network.

My example is, I have a 17 months free on an 18 months contract. My network is T-Mobile and I simply print off the required bill needed as per the T&C's and send it off to the Watford address.

Just make sure you save everything (T&C's, emails etc.) and copy everything sent. Any help you need, you just need to ask - lots of MSE members will help you to get your cashback from this, or indeed any company.

  • Again, thanks for your swift reply.

At current state, I am on a virgin rolling 30 day sim only contract and the "billing" is a 10 pound deduction (from virgin) shown in my current acount bank statement. Does this mean that I would have to send them such a statement as proof of me "paying" for my bill? (as well as a receipt/bill from mobiles.co.uk for the initial payment)

    p.s 17 months free = nice!

There is no initial bill (network) from Mobiles.co.uk, so just forget that as it's not an option. Also your cashback would be paid by Mobiles.co.uk and you would pay the network the full amount per month. Your cashback claims wouldn't start until 6 months from your contract start.
You just need to send the required bill from your chosen network.
If say you go with the cheapest option (Orange) with a contract starting in October, you would send back your April (2011) bill and as long as you are up to date with payments you should receive your cashback.
E2save (same CPW group) have similar offers with your selected phone and have the option of going with T-Mobile, maybe worth a look.

My 17 months free was with a much lesser phone, you are obviously going for a more top-end model, hence the lesser cashback (but with a free high value phone). You are also probably looking at the 6 months free on a 24 month contract.

Don't forget to go via a cashback site like Topcashback for the extra value (£46 - £50).

  • If only I had read your post before hand!
I've just done the deed and bought the phone via mobiles.co.uk, so I will keep you all informed with what happens!

So how do these cashback sites work?
