Hello - its a good bargain isn't it.
I have frozen milk in the past and left it to defrost slowly in the fridge about 10-12 hours before I need it and make sure its used up within about three days maximum, thats with both semi and full fat

    hope that helps

Freezing milk is fine as long as you leave enough time to defrost it - give it a good shake before you use it.

fantastic. i knew you could freeze milk as i have done in the past. but wasn't sure if the 1% milk could be. i've stuck a couple in freezer now.
  • I've frozen 3 Bottles of the 50p Morrisons 1% milk with no problems. It does go a bit yellow when frozen, but this is normal. Just shake it when defrosted :D

Anyone know how long the Morrisons 50p offer goes on for? Might stock up on a few more while it's cheap!:j
  • I need to take some milk with me on a long journey. I normally take long-life but I'm not that keen on the taste and was thinking about freezing a small bottle of normal milk to take.

Does milk go funny when it thaws out or will it be ok?
  • If you buy Homogenised milk (It has no visible cream on the top, and most milk is homogenised now a days), Then you shouldn't need to freeze it anyway. Just wrap it up well with a couple of frozen-gel things and you will be O.K.
However if you really want to freeze it, then just give it a good stir when you want to use it. BUT DON'T FREEZE IT IN A GLASS BOTTLE, AS IT WILL SHATTER. If it is in a plastic bottle then that is O.K. but make sure that there is enough space between the top of the milk and the top of the container, as the contents will expand with freezing.
    Hope that all makes sense.

semi skimmed comes out out of the freezer fine, I've been freezing it for over 10 years in the plastic bottles and never had a problem; I don't freeze full cream as I don't like it anyway but I think I read somewhere that it separates?? may be wrong on that though :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

You can freeze milk :) It will expand and appear yello when it freezes; neither is anything to worry about.

I'll add this to the existing thread later.
