Last day of holidays tomorrow (school has inset day so they go back thursday)
Will probably spend the rest of tomorrow hugging ds before his first day of school...then run out of the playground randomly high fiving complete strangers.
Same here lauren, will try to make last day tomorrow a special one, with a trip to beach and local park, then manic session of bathing, hair washing etc tomorrow night before the bedlam of Thursday morning and then the relative peace of only one child at home.
My money plans have gone all to pot lately, with unexpected but fab trip to London, couldn't resist the London Eye, and then some very necessary clothes shopping for hubby, time to reign it in now big time, to save some pennies before baby arrives in November.
Hi to everyone, hugs to those that need them, good luck to all interviewees, and hope everyone is getting what appears to be some late summer sunshine.0 -
Can anyone help with my querie from the other day about how much washing powder (Daz from Morrisons offer) I need to put in. They say 95ml in soft water but I know that lots of you use less than recommended. How much less though? i need to sort this out and put right size container there before family start using it. Caught hubby using an old soap powder measure the other day on it. Asked why he was starting on the new one before old gel tabs were finished. When looked at the scoop that he had found from back of the cupboard, I noticed that it went up to about 300ml and he had it full. Would have used all that if I hadn't caught him. I suppose I should be grateful he puts washing on, I know lots even these days don't lift a finger.
I have started using the yellow top off a schweppes tonic water bottle - I will go and measure it....
... it is 50ml. I use Fairy non-bio due to allergies. It works fine 90% of the time.Skint but happy with my lovely family

Last day of holidays tomorrow (school has inset day so they go back thursday)
Got them some last min bargains, found a load of half price stationary in WHsmiths, ds is now set for clothes until he is 6 (a lovely lady on freecycle gave me 5 large boxes of boys clothes that she didnt shift at a carboot sale, trousers, tops, jumpers, coats, school stuff.... one very happy lady here)
Found ds 4 beanie hats in a charity shop, got them for £1 the lot. (he always has a hat on now his dad insists on cutting all his hair off)

Aww. My dd1 is just going into year 1 - so this time last year I was preparing to take her off to school for the first time! It was an emotional time for me - she was fine of course! She doesn't go back until Tuesday - tbh it can't come soon enough as I am slowly losing the will to live! She and her little sister are bickering constantly and she is getting a little borrrred now....Skint but happy with my lovely family

And, the good thing about this is that it increases your happiness without any effort on your part. I was reading a magazine yesterday (Spirit&Destiny, bought on a rare whim, don't waste your money!) and the only useful thing to come out of it was that research has shown that writing down five good things in your day increases your happiness/decreases your chances of being depressed. The magazine expressed it in a more esoteric way by saying that it increased your energy vibrations and if practised every day would result in a permanent positive shift in energy. Which is also supposed to attract good things to you.
So worth doing, whichever explanation you choose to believe!
Where is gailey?
Well - it's a thought I suppose. Maybe we should try it for a week and report back?
Re gailey the forum says Last Activity: Today 10:57 AM, but the last post I can find by her was on the 28th. I hope she's ok, as she sounded very low, although her last post on this thread said that she was feeling a bit cold, so maybe she's come down with something and feels to rough to post on here - let's hope it's as simple as that eh?Aug11 £193.29/£240

Anyone watch the British Bake Off last night? I learnt a few things, I always slash my bread before 2nd prove, they all did just before it went in the oven.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
After a bit of jigging around I have managed to find enough to pay the dentist, I will just not pay so much off one of the debts. I an going to have to open a special account in my Nationwide account and put £10 a month in towards the next appointment. The dentists like you to go every 6 months, but I am going to tell them we will only go once a year for checkups. If we need anything iin between we will have to make an appointment.
Thanks for all the good wishes last night, by the time I had a large glass of wine and consulted money I did not feel so bad, but made OH sweat until this morning.
