*fingers crossed* for your interview Lambanana :D

Still catching up tonight been a hectic weekend still have loads to do before DS3 goes back on Thursday..

Quick Question re high school etiquette!!! :o
DS3 would love to take his Starwars lunchbox with him and I want him to be a happy boy and have a great start at his new school but am a bit worried wether other kids will take the 'you know what' if he takes it  bless him..(reminder hes off to an asd unit within a special school) so what would you do???? Plain lock and lock first day *just in case* to see what the other kids have or his star wars box..(I really need to take a chill pill I know):rotfl:
  • D&DD if your son has always had that box then it should be his choice if he decides the next day to have the l&lbox then you will know if you don't let him make some choices now he might find it more difficult as he gets older its a case of trial and error my son had to have banana milkshake and either chocolate spread or lemon curd on his sandwiches a choc snack and crisps every day was the same if i had to change it i had to be very careful how i did it not just do it had to explain so he didn't get upset, sometimes it helped to let him do his own lunch box with a bit of help
Hope your son enjoys his first day at big school(thats what my son would call it)

lambanana - good luck with the interview

DD&D - I don't think you need a pill - these things can be a minefield. My kids have plain blue Tesco value lunchbags at grammar school - however ds1(14) informs me that only he and the girls have lunchbags (they have a table in the form room where they can leave them) - most of the boys use carrier bags. I use a lunchbag because they have lock n lock or flasks a lot of the time. Having said that, he has never had any stick about the bag or it's contents, which is a huge improvement on primary school. I would let him take it - it's going to be a big enough day anyway and then let him decide after that.

  • Afternoon everyone, boys are asleep - hoping DS1 isnt getting somrthing as naps are no longer done by him! Im hoping he has finally realised how tired he is. Bought lunch bag today in wilkinsons for him, Ben 10 as he requsted which was fine. My only gripe was why did wilkinsons put the £3.97 and £7.99 lunch bags next to each other? We had tears as he wanted the expensive one with the same picture on it that had a shinney plactic finish to it rather that the £3.99 one which was just matt finish. After explining I could buy two lunch bags for that price or even pay for macdonalds with the difference, he agreed on the £3.99 bag and a bag of 25p haribo! I was however thanked by another mum who made her son listen to me (i didnt c them) and then made her son have the cheaper lunch bag.

OH came down from putting the boys to bed and asked me who I had been talking to on the phone as the conversation sounded strange. he too was amazed that tesco rang me over £1.06, but after thinking about it I feel that I achieved something and will no longer sit back and not complain!

Gailey usually posts daily - hope her daughters arent unwell after they had spots or she has made herself ill.

Afternoon all! A lovely sunny day - thankfully, as I've done 6 loads of washing today!!:rotfl: I didn't wash last Thurs (rain) and DH came back from 'up North' with washing and we've been away Fri- Mon camping, so had lots of washing from that (inc things like smokey thick fleeces/ jackets from BBQing and a campfire) Have about 1/2 load left, so will do that tomorrow - by which time it will have morphed into a full load :rotfl: SHould all get dry today, hopefully - looking good so far :D

Have dug up some pink fir potatoes today, picked a handful of tomatoes and 2 courgettes and about 2KG runner beans. Will blanch and freeze some (the smallest ones) and feed some to guinea pigs and chutney some. Have also pulled up my dwarf French beans and picked teh last dozen from there. There was possibly about another dozen flowers on teh plants at best, and that area is now being smothered by my squashes (although I noticed that the slugs have eaten all my baby squashes so far :(:()

Have a large dish in the oven of courgettes, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, chilli, basil, onion - most of which is from the garden :D All slowly roasting away. Will be a sort of aubergine-less ratatouille (DH doesn't like Aubs) and will add some chicken to it for a chicken casserole (will use a tuib of passata for this) and will add some to couscous for me and blitz some down into a pasta sauce. Also need to visit m-i-law's house - unbeknown to her I have filled her empty freezer with f&v and she's back home tomorrow from hols :D Will leave her some veg in exchange when I collect the f&V (am jam and chutney making this week)

Also have a large (2.2kg) (whoopsied) chook roasting in the oven - had to take it out of the freezer to make way for f&v. Some will be used as above and some frozen for roast meals(takes up much less room when cooked) and some will be frozen for use in risotto etc.

I'm thinking that we (in our house) are having a slight 'boom' time at the mo (DH has work, we have lots of F&V and a full storecupboard) but I am expecting a leaner winter with little/ no work, so am making the most (as in ensuring we have good supplies, rather than going out and having a whale of a time!:rotfl:)

lambanana - good luck for the interview!!

jediteacher - you may not need to go through insurance for repairs, but it may be required if you have whiplash or something - will cover any chiropratic bills etc and maybe a small compensation amount. And problems can occur several months down the line as a result of a rear end shunt... ((hugs)) for you

thriftmonster - the picture in my head of a lovely larder with a pedestal washbasin at the end did make me chuckle somewhat!!:rotfl:

flipperOSN - guinea pigs eat banana skin? Ooh... must try it out on mine :D

narabanekeater - hope your poor woofly is getting better. My mum's dog has diabetes - but is actually getting better from it (as in medication being reduced) - Vet has never seen that before.

charlies-aunt - sorry to hear about your job :(

((Hugs)) to anyone else needing any. I'm off to see if any more of my washing is dry!!

I am really fed up, made a load of financial plans to pay down our debt quicker, go to the dentist and get hit with a bill for £90 next time we go, both of us need fillings......where I am going to find the cash from I really do not know.....its three weeks shopping for us. It would not be so bad but we have visitors coming and a trip booked we have to take, we both need a break, I am so tired having coped with all the moving, sorting out the house, garden etc as well as coping with OH and his DD's. He is so clumsy as well, it did not help him getting the cable to the mower round his feet and tripping up, frightened the life out of me when the cable yanked out of the plug.

It seems the minute I think we are on the right track something comes and bites me on the bum again, I( am getting really fed up with it. I have to deal with all the financial things, OH simply will not have anything to do with any of it, I am so fed up with juggling the finances........OH and I have just had an altercation about the situation.......I am pee'd off with him just now!!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
