*fingers crossed* for your interview Lambanana
Still catching up tonight been a hectic weekend still have loads to do before DS3 goes back on Thursday..
Quick Question re high school etiquette!!!
DS3 would love to take his Starwars lunchbox with him and I want him to be a happy boy and have a great start at his new school but am a bit worried wether other kids will take the 'you know what' if he takes it  bless him..(reminder hes off to an asd unit within a special school) so what would you do???? Plain lock and lock first day *just in case* to see what the other kids have or his star wars box..(I really need to take a chill pill I know):rotfl:
D&DD - it matters hunWhatever is important/matters to our children, is important/matters to us, and being "odd one out" can be hugely upsetting for any child. I agree with muffinman7 - I think the best thing to do is to let him go with his Star Wars lunch box, and take it from there.
If he has been teased, he'll no doubt say so, or let you know in some way, and then you can swap (it's never a bad thing to have a back-up plan) but if he's got his heart set on it, I'd go with the flow for the first day. I hope it goes well for himI am really fed up, made a load of financial plans to pay down our debt quicker, go to the dentist and get hit with a bill for £90 next time we go, both of us need fillings......where I am going to find the cash from I really do not know.....its three weeks shopping for us. It would not be so bad but we have visitors coming and a trip booked we have to take, we both need a break, I am so tired having coped with all the moving, sorting out the house, garden etc as well as coping with OH and his DD's. He is so clumsy as well, it did not help him getting the cable to the mower round his feet and tripping up, frightened the life out of me when the cable yanked out of the plug.
It seems the minute I think we are on the right track something comes and bites me on the bum again, I( am getting really fed up with it. I have to deal with all the financial things, OH simply will not have anything to do with any of it, I am so fed up with juggling the finances........OH and I have just had an altercation about the situation.......I am pee'd off with him just now!!!
csarina All I can think of for now, is that you split your appointments, so that you have fillings this month and OH has fillings next. I'm having to do this with my treatment. I've explained my financial situation to my dentist and he's been very understanding. I think they have to be really. One of the first things that I think a few people will see as a way of saving, is not going to the dentists.....if it's a case of paying a bill/feed your family, or going to the dentists......
Some people are going to have to choose between the two, so I think dentists are going to have to be flexible
I don't know what to suggest about your other half's refusal to take responsibility for sharing the burden of how best to use/juggle your finances, or lack of. My ex-husband used to be the same, and not only is it extremely annoying it's also completely out of order for "grown" - and I use the term loosely - men to adopt such a selfish attitude. :grouphug:

Csarina - I dont know what advice to give - ignore your hubby tonight make him stew!!! Take care of you x
Taplady - good luck to your sons x
had spag bol for tea using 100g less mince than usual and we all had enough and some in freezer for DS2 one night this week. doing a monthly shop meant I bought 3 packs of 800g mince and instead of getting 6 meals I got 8, very pleased and we bought a whole chicken and used that for 2 meals (sun&mon) onstead of 3 packs of chicken breast. Im hoping that this will help to cut the food bill so we can save a little to pay of credit cards quicker.
cheap day, at friends house for a play date then library. had to use up eggs so made fairy cakes and OH took egg batches to work.
My friend who we visited today is making jam for xmas gift so I got this site on her laptop for her and shes hooked! Her hubby got made redundant in January and hasnt found a job so there making xmas as cheap as they can. Weve all started saving jars for her!
Hoping the good weather lasts tomorrow, another play datea and I have more bedding to washMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Csarina - sorry about your dentist bill! glad you took it out on the weeds!:D hope you and Mr Csarina have made up!;)
Good news here - DS2 has got his first ever interview - a part time job at Morrisons:j I'm a nervous wreck already!:D He's mildly autistic but manages to disguise it most of the time. I'm not sure how much info we should tell the firm but think they need to know something.
DS1 has his interview tomorrow - more fingers to be crossed!
Oh my.....I bet you don't know what to do with yourself! Sending good wishes your way hun - how fab if they both got a job on the same day! Fingers CrossedAug11 £193.29/£240

Last day of holidays tomorrow (school has inset day so they go back thursday)
Got them some last min bargains, found a load of half price stationary in WHsmiths, ds is now set for clothes until he is 6 (a lovely lady on freecycle gave me 5 large boxes of boys clothes that she didnt shift at a carboot sale, trousers, tops, jumpers, coats, school stuff.... one very happy lady here)
Found ds 4 beanie hats in a charity shop, got them for £1 the lot. (he always has a hat on now his dad insists on cutting all his hair off)
Will probably spend the rest of tomorrow hugging ds before his first day of school...then run out of the playground randomly high fiving complete strangers.0 -
Well done Lindy-loo, you've made a good start there. Let us know how you go on with your cutbacks. I get so excited when I manage to get extra meals out of what would have just done us for once before iyswim. It's good you were able to show your friend this site. Nice to be able to support one another in the 'real world'.

Csarina - if O.H. is the reason you are in financial shtuck - then I would certainly second the advice that if anyone waits for their trip to the dentist - then its obviously him (not you) that does so.
Must admit I would go ahead regardless and have anything I needed (including trips to the dentist) if the reason I was having financial problems was because of an O.H. and tell him "YOU created the problem buster - don't expect ME to wait for a necessity because of it. YOU have just taken on a bit more debt mate - or can investigate to see if theres any overtime at work or something YOU can do to deal with this."
But thats me - I get very "tough" on anyone who thinks someone else will suffer because of THEIR financial mismanagement (particularly if that someone else is me...).
Errr....I could offer my "ceridwen talks tough" services to you if you're anywhere nearby - I charge a very modest rate (a strong cup of coffee or glass of wine will do.....:rotfl:) .....0 -

All the best to all interviewee's this week!
Had a nice but tiring day. Took Mum to town as she'd some errands to do, she bought me lunch and a 1.5kg bag of sugar for my jam making, paid the parking costs and gave me some money for diesel. Bless her!
Came home after dropping mum off and we had home made oatcakes with melted cheese for tea, then watered the garden and discovered that despite the chilly weather of late and the sharp descent into the autumnal season (despite not having a summer worth mentioning) there are things thriving and growing well in the garden and to my surprise, the cobnut squash i planted now have little cobnuts growing on them. I thought the were done for and had failed through my ineptitude, to grow, so that was a nice surprise too.

And, the good thing about this is that it increases your happiness without any effort on your part. I was reading a magazine yesterday (Spirit&Destiny, bought on a rare whim, don't waste your money!) and the only useful thing to come out of it was that research has shown that writing down five good things in your day increases your happiness/decreases your chances of being depressed. The magazine expressed it in a more esoteric way by saying that it increased your energy vibrations and if practised every day would result in a permanent positive shift in energy. Which is also supposed to attract good things to you.
So worth doing, whichever explanation you choose to believe!
Where is gailey?Aspire not to have more but to be more.
