Hi frugal. You might want to check for yourself but I just googled "national insurance" and then clicked on "national insurance credits" and as far as I can see you get them automatically if you are getting child benefit for a child under 12. Think this was why it came up in the radio phone in - callers who were anxious that if they lost their child benefit they would also lose their national insurance credits - not sure how DC plans to deal with that one but I think you will be OK.

ETA Oops. Anguk beat me to it! And thanks for your reply too pink winged.

But we are OS people and we live here on this board :D

We are comfy here with our friends chatting about things getting tougher and supporting eachother in the face of massive government cuts :o

    Hi Frugal,

While I completely understand where you are coming from, there have been a number of complaints about this thread being off topic.

MSE is now a massive forum and if we all posted what we wanted, where we wanted, just because we prefer a certain board, the forums would be chaotic and nobody would be able to find the moneysaving information that they needed.

That's why Martin has asked board guides to move threads that are off topic to more relevant forums.

    Anyway, it's time I wasn't here....sleep well everyone.

Just to let everyone (including the board guides) know that I have received a PM from someone called NowWhat which is apparently ceridwens AE - she signed ceridwen at the bottom of the message.

Basically I have been told in no uncertain terms that this is her own thread  and advised what not to post .

Whilst I had said my piece and moved on - I feel I must respond.

Firstly, no-one "owns" any particular thread - this is a public forum and anyone can post.

Secondly, I believe kittie actually started this thread - ceridwen merely "bumped" it.

Thirdly, whilst some of you may not like what I have to say, I have done so publicly for all to see - to resort to sneaky PM's is just not on. I may be a bit blunt - but I am honest and upfront - take me as I am :o.

I really enjoy this thread and have received tremendous support when I have posted about my own tough times. There is a great sense of community on this thread - but we don't all have to agree with each other all the time - such is life.

ceridwen I find it rather curious that someone who constantly trumpets that she thinks "logically" is displaying such an emotional reaction to my comment. However, I have nothing further to say on the matter and consider the subject now closed. Please do not send me any further pm's and I would appreciate it if you would refrain from telling me what I can and cannot post. Thank you.

I agree that sending sneaky messages like that is not on however I would guess that this is some troll and not Ceridwen at all - sure Ceridwen has stong opinions which she is entitled to, but doesn't seem to me to be the sort of person to send PMs in another name... Just my opinion.

Sad that you got that message though :(
