Sorry, didn't have time to read/post properly last night - just the fuel prices caught my eye.
Wishing you all the best in your new life annie56 - best thing I ever did too - other doors will open and fingers crossed for your allotment.

()s sammy and gailey - when my children were small I felt as if I would never get out from under the washing, let alone have a show home or make my own preserves. I remember one tidy friend saying only let them have one toy out at a time but they didn't play like that - long running imaginative play - some games went on for weeks - involving every soft toy, car, bricks, even videos roped in to make houses etc - whole worlds laid out on the floor - plus side was it kept them happy for hours on end. It will get better, I promise.

  • Good luck Annie56. I left my marriage 3 years ago with nothing and a 5 year old. I privately rented a flat which had carpets, curtains and white goods and moved in with a blow up bed, portable TV and 2 bags of clothes. It was tough at times. Three years on and I am buying a little house (not the best of areas but its ok and neighbours are nice) and I have a new BF. I have 2 jobs and they are both looking shaky. One has the wages frozen and the other is cutting my salary 20%, oh joy.

Its so nice having your own space though and doing what you want and decorating it how you want to. Worth being skint for if you ask me.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Well have managed basics - am still sat in pjs though

have done dishes, sterilised babes bottles, tidied bathroom adn toilet, put toilet rolls in toilet after they've been sat on sofa arm fro about a week, got some drying on and put clothes from livin groom into bedroom - granted they are on the bed but at least they are still out of the living room.

haven't managed a decent meal since i left the hospital and was hoping fro one on my anniversary on September 1st but doesn't look like that will happen so might settle for chips and a cappuccino from my favourite cafe later.

seem to eb surviving on a diet of caffinated drinks, smarties and cornflakes!

Annie56,Good Luck! I left my ex partner 3 years ago with my children and though it was tough as I lost my jobs round the same time as well it was the best decision I ever made.
Gail: dont worry about the house work as others have said enjoy your kids.

Gailey - I know my boyfriend expects a show home too but I have very minimal possessions - my sons are mostly in his bedroom and boyfriend is a hoarder of bike parts, car parts etc and has over 300 VW magazines which I don't think hes read in years but he likes to keep! and it keeps getting added too! Plus he seems to do very little to help the situation so with a newborn and a 6 year old its a case of I do what I can when I can.
Yesterday fro example I only got out of my pyjamas at 4.30pm and that was simply for the fact that I had to take Ben to his football practice and when I got to the field and was talking to the other mums they had all done the same all day. Trying to do housework with poorly kids is like trying to pin jelly to a wall.

Annie56 - welcome to the thread first and foremost and good luck with your new ventures in your new flat. Just wanted to pop over and suggest the 'preparing fro winter' thread that is usually about on the first few pages of the OS board - lots of practical things in there to help save money with the cold weather approaching.

Well had my letter back from child benefit yesterday and I'll be getting £33 a week now with babe but Im paid monthly so it will be £132 so told boyfriend I will have a look round town today for the cheapest price on baby milk and then put £40 aside to get boxes of milk since my boobie juice has now dried up. Have made a note on the calendar of when I opened the last tub so am seeing how long it lasts now with her on 6oz bottles so I can get a good idea of how many I need. Best I have found so far is £7.24 in Tesco but am wondering if I will get discount on it in the coop where I'm currently working - although think its nearer £8 in there.

Glad mines not only one. He reckons if he was at home it be perfect and him and mum say 1toy at a time rule.
Working was much easier than 2kids.

When i mix fed with 1st born was 4years ago now but belive its still one of cheaper infant milks was hipp organic infant milk used to be 4.99 a box in tesco as that seemed cheapest think might have gone up to 6quid now maybe look at boots website and mysupermarket.com and compare.

Im being positive todays another day, suns out, hubbys off.
Eldest has few more spots but seems fine.

Going to try sort out house today and get better routine so I feel less stressed and rubbish.

    DOnt worry hun.

I am trying to get some sort of routine in the morning so that its easier once the school run starts again.

Have set an alarm on my phone fro 8am and ben has learnt when he hears that alarm then we have to get dressed and do our teeth so he is up at 7am (the latest) and has breakfast now at about 7.15 - 7.30am and then gets half hour to watch tv etc before dressed/teeth and then I get holly changed/dressed after that to be finished by 8.30 so we can leave at 8.40am for the school run etc - its only a basic morning routine but it seems to be working so far and will hopefully make life easier.

DH land rover failed MOT yesterday so got to find about £400 for that. Payday tomorrow and that's £400 gone already. My car has to go in later this week as wheel bearings gone so no doubt that'll be another couple of hundred pounds. Wish we didn't need blooming cars! I do cycle and walk where poss but the cars are still necessary evils

  • There is definitely an autumnal nip in the air today, though I am very pleased to see that old yellow disc thing in the sky! I need to top up my vitamin D, but it doesn't look like I am going to be able to do it today. Got meetings, after meetings and I am galloping all over the place. I worked out this morning (because no one had bothered to tell me) that for 2 days next week I am going to be all on my own. Everyone else in my team will be off on holiday. Charming to be kept informed of this. :( Oh well. My chance to shine I suppose. Not that anyone will notice of course.

To everyone feeling down or low, lots of hugs. :)

    Take care all.

Welcome to all those posting for the first time, its lovely to hear new ideas and know that we are all pulling together.

Purple Heather the poem brought a tear to my eye too. I firmly beleive that all the time spent with my 2 was worth it they are wonderful human beings and my Ds (28) still comes to his Mum when he needs someone to talk to and is my rock.

Annie, well done on starting afresh. When I retired to look after hubby a good friend said ' you need to cut all the dross out of your life - friends who do not understand or support you' I was shocked at her comment but 12 months down the line I was forced to do that, people i thought cared about me were actually takers not givers. thus now I have a lot less friends but the ones I have are the best - especially all my new friends on here - I always have somewhere to go to talk things through and that is priceless.

So to all of you having good things happen - well done and those having a scary time hugs to you all.

It's great that you have done all that stuff, but you've got to eat properly!! Even if it's just a quick cheese sandwich or whatever. Seriously!
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D
