I've gotten pretty used to pacing myself on effort. I time my runs and now keep my smartphone with me to track the route as well (previously used walkjogrun site to do routes beforehand) but I only look at the time/data after my runs. I need to get further along my running life before I bother with else. Though I do like seeing how I've done after and would love a garmin! :)

Mine's a Polar, which has the added benefit of being able to use my chest strap with the machine at the gym rather than having to keep touching the pads on them to get a HR reading :)

Hi guys - my aches have somewhat subsided, and stairs are no longer the enemy! I am very tired, but then I have been having a very stressful intense period at work so that is probably as much of it, as the 26.2 miles!

I haven't put my trainers on yet, but I have a 10k to run on Friday morning - Not doing it is NOT an option as it is the race that is named after my Father, so however long it takes my weary legs to get round, is as long as it takes - emotion is the order of the day rather than anything else, although the timing of it does suck - would rather have another weeks recovery!!

4.5miles for me tonight. Legs are feeling strong with all the cycling and starting to adapt back to running as well. Still feel the few extra pounds I'm carrying around but that shouldn't be for too long anymore....

3.22 miles in 32:04.1 - average pace down to 9:57.5/mile. max HR 168, av HR 153

Did a different route today, which saw all the uphill work towards the end instead of at the start - and I really struggled in the heat, it's the first time in months I've felt my breathing suffer :o

But it's miles under the feet, and I managed to resist the temptation to drop to a walk I felt at several points :T

Also my second run without checking my watch while out :) I don't expect to do that again on Sunday though, as I'm planning a loooooong run, and will no doubt find myself checking just how far through it I am ;)

hi guys - I ran a 10k race today. It is the annual memorial race named after my Dad, so emotions run high for me.....I was a bit worried doing it so soon after the marathon, and in the heat again too but I managed it in a fraction under 62 minutes so all things considered I will take that and be incredibly happy with it.

Back to "normal" training runs now though, and enjoying my running for the sake of it I think!

Happy running one and all xxx

359 days to go to that one, so you should be recovered by then ;)

Headed out on a route that had mapped at 10.8 miles - all of which make up part of the route of the half-marathon I'm doing in June.

Left my daughter's house at 11:50am - and boy was it hot !! By the time I got to the 2 mile point my back was already damp.....

Got to 8.89 miles before I decided my legs were complaining a tad too much, so I walked back from there.

Did the 8.89 miles in 1:26:13, so an average pace of 9:41.9/mile - which is better than my 8.12 miles last Sunday (10:22.7/mile) but it was a slightly flatter route today.
