    Woo hoo!!

I've been out for a run this morning Run 2 Week 3 of G28K -hard work up a long long hill for almost 15mins, had to extend the 1min walk breaks but kept going and looking forward to managing this better over the next few weeks

See if I can manage another go tomorrow

    Happy running everyone!

I have managed to do run 2 of G28K this morning. I didn't run with my heart monitor on this morning, so I ran much faster, I think I was home 7 minutes earlier than last time. I have to say I can really feel it though! I struggled much more on runs two and three as well. It's obviously good advice to keep it slow and steady at first. Still I am really pleased I did it:D

Back to work tomorrow I am going to find it hard to keep up but I really am going to try:o

I think I have narrowed my first half marathon down to either the Silverstone halk or the MK half as these are both close to me, pretty flat, not too expensive and not yet sold out. Now to decide whether the scenery of Milton Keynes outweighs running round and round a motor racing circuit! It'll be a close run thing!

Week 3 Run 3 completed tonight with no problems, plus extended the run by another 4mins after the ipod went a bit wappy for a while ran for 40mins instead of 36 plus the 4 x 1min interval walks and the 5min walk warm up and cool down

Week 4 begins shortly on the way to 8K!

I ran approx 4miles this morning before uni on Run 1 week 4.

It went well and I'm aiming to get back out again on Friday as my legs are a bit tired for this and 80mins walking today!

  • Well done again fedupandskint :j

I have not been so successful and I wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I normally run first thing in the morning before breakfast. I have never been very good at running in the evening but have once managed a half hour run in the evening. So far this week I walked fast for an hour on Monday night , half an hour last night but tonight I was keen to do my G28K run. I decided to go almost straight from work before I cooked tea. I got home about 4.45pm. Got the food out ready for cooking when I got back ,got the bins in and then got changed. The first interval wasn't too bad. In the second interval run I started to feel really light headed, it felt like my legs were going on their own. By interval three I just felt totally exhausted. I gave up and just walked at a fast pace home. I was out in total for about 50 minutes .:(

Anyone got any suggestions??? Will I ever be able to run in the evenings? Or should I change something that I am doing. I obviously have to try and fit it in around my family ,my job and the work that I have to do at home.

Hi teachergirl. It's funny isn't it how it works differently for people. I love going for a run straight after work though the last couple of times (yesterday and the day before) I haven't had food close enough so at the end of the run have started feeling bit hungry. I'd make sure you eat something couple of hours before your run or a banana half an hour before should help. I'm such an evening runner that I find it quite difficult (and 'wrong') to go for a run at the weekend before it's later on in the day.

My two runs this week, Tuesday 4.6mi and Wednesday 5mi were both run mostly in darkeness (and yesterday's in rain as well) and I loved it! :)

Hi Teachergirl - also make sure that you are well hydrated as if you have had a busy day you might not have been drinking enough water.

Ran Day 2 Week 4 this morning around a lovely nature reserve as the sun rose, made a nice change running in the light and I'm going back out there again tomorrow to finish off week 4

  • Well done evryone and thank you for your replies. Yesterday got up at 5.45am.Had coffee. Walked dogs. Started running at 6.50am and week 6 run 3 done no problems.:)

I think I might be finding running in the evening difficult because of rehydration. I have lunch at work at 1.35pm so it is quite late which makes me think it might not be a food issue. However there is no drinking water near my staff room so I realised it is possible that that day I had not had a drink since breakfast:eek:

I might try running with my daughters old water bottle. If I try it in the evening again but I must admit I am getting a bit of a mental block about running in the evening.
Tomorrow I am going to start week 7 of G28K. I have a polar heart monitor and I have already hit my targets for this week which means I can run as fast as I like.:D
