  • Hi all,

Thought I would drop in and say hi - think I may join this thread if that's ok??!

I'm a running "trier"! I try, but it doesn't look pretty! I did my third Great North Run last month, with a slightly disappointing 2 hrs 22. The aim now is to kick on and do a sub two hour.

Went for my first proper run yesterday since the GNR. and it was a painful four miles!! It was about 10 minute miles, but I was really struggling!!

I enjoy running as it's helped me shed a couple of stone (still one more to go), and I enjoy being on my tod, with only my music and brain to keep me company - it's a nice break from everything else!

I llok forward to chatting to you all!!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call mentally !!!!!!.

    Hi homershairdo! Welcome along.
Can't be too bad if you've run half mara in 2hr22 - I think that's a respectable time!
I've just done my first 20 mile week, easy runs to get used to doing the distance as used to be bit of a 'now and again runner', and my pace is 10-10:30m/m. We welcome all levels on here so enjoy your running.

Only went running once last week and was stern with myself to go out tonight after work and finally got the end of Week 1 G28K.

Looks like I'll have to be more organised for food and stick something in the slow cooker as if I continue this I'll not be eating until 7.30pm onwards

  • Looks like we are trying to acheive the same thing tirlittan, in terms of a 20 mile week.

Will probably try and do something this evening, a three or a four. Would have done something a lunchtime, but forgot my clean kit, and only have yesterdays "humming" number with me!!

    Good luck!!

Hi Homershairdo and welcome  good support on here, no matter where you're at :)

A good 5k for me tonight. Chipping away at those times, too. Will be back to racing speed before I know it :)

Any suggestions for a half marathon next Spring (preferably a flattish one).

Actually, just thinking about it, friend is doing one in Bath in March. Don't know what the course is like though.

I live in Bath, if I remember correctly the route follows the river for most part which means that it is fairly flat. Check it ouf HERE
