I quite fancy the Bath one - would be an excuse to visit the city again too.

Today I got the fitting for the inserts - and had a long chat about running at least some of the marathon (6-8 miles). Was told that this will be irresponsible and childish - I cam do the former but the latter is too much. I am not childish - and I don't want serious damage. So today I went to the gym and did my circuits - boring but that good for you.

    I ran week 3 of G28K this morning 4 x 9min intervals with 4 x 1min walks. Boy can I feel it now!

Onwards and upwards inching closer to 8k in another 6 weeks or so. Reminds me of how I felt on my journey to 5k and I never imagined I would get there at times as it felt so difficult.

I did get there and it was fine so this should be too

  • Well done feupandskint :D. I have been lurking here for awhile ever since you mentioned this thread to me. hello everyone else room for a new one????

Last February I decided for many reasons I needed to get fit and keep myself fit as i am helping to care for elderly relatives as well as holding down a job and being a mum to two teenagers...oh and going through the menopause as well:eek: I booked myself and my family on my dream holiday to Borneo and started on the C25K . After many stops and starts I started on the G28K and nearly finished it before my holiday. Since I got back from holiday I am finding it much harder to motivate myself. My work hours have changed so I can no longer fit in a run on a Tuesday afternoon so I am down to two runs a week. Friday morning and Sunday morning. I badly need a good kick up the backside though because I lost loads of weight before and on the holiday and now I have started to put it back on and I definitely don't want that. Hardly anyone is posting on the C25K and I figured I might put them off as I am running abit further, though still very slowly,:o so I have decided to post on here for some moral support.
This week being half term I have set myself the target of trying to do something every day even if it is only a long walk. Monday I did C25K week 8 plus 2minutes running(I like the music best on this.) Tuesday I failed miserably. Yesterday I slept really badly because the dogs were sick and got me up 4 times in the night. My hubby said I should go anyway. So I put my i pod onto G28k week 5 or so I thought, i heard him say week 8 and I couldn't be bothered to change it though I did not recognise the music. Anyway when I arrived home I realised I had done week 8 of the freeway to 10K programme:eek: I did manage it though. 4 runs of 14 minutes with a one minute interval.

My two problems...lack of motivation. I did look for a run I could sign upto but I could not find any so I guess it will have to wait until next spring???
Time. I may only be able to fit in two runs a week and one might have to just be half an hour.(When I started running I liked the programme because I only needed half an hour.)

Finally I have asked for a water bottle thing for running for a Christmas present...any ideas anyone?

(Now I am off for a walk!!!)

    Well done and welcome teachergirl

I feel the same as you. I had lots of motivation for the 5K then I was struck down with flu for 3 out of 4 weeks, then went on holiday for a week and felt like I had to start again at 5K after getting to week 4 of G28K!

However I am determined to reach 10k and hoping by the end of the year if possible or early next year. I only ran once last week and this week have been out twice and I'm determined to run at least once more this week and maybe twice depending on how I feel.

The cold mornings have sapped my motivation so I have altered to fit in some after work runs too. The cold and darkness takes some getting used to after running in the early summer mornings. Still I have to if I want to get there

Good luck to you and lets get there together!

    Hi teachergirl and welcome!
You and fedupandskint are doing really well! Keep at it.

Did 5mi on Wednesday, legs felt tired after Sunday's and Monday's runs and Monday night's training so plodded it in 55mins and didn't do any strides. Run by feel I say!

Yesterday legs felt a lot better so decided to do my 4.6miler with strides and felt quite fresh and the run was very enjoyable. Still keeping the slow pace so 48mins for this one. Only my 'long run' of 6mi to do on Saturday before match day.. :)

  • Hi Tirlittan and fedupandskint thank you for the support .:) You have inspired me. I slept better last night so decided to run again this morning. I think the fact that I was just running odd weeks from different programmes didn't help with my motivation. So I have decided to start on week 6 of the G28K programme and have updated my signiture to reflect this in the hope that it will help to keep me motivated. Like you fedupandskint I am not liking running in the dark and I have to run on the streets instead of on the fens with the sheep and the swans and all the other lovely things. ( Still nosing through peoples windows can be very interesting;))

I hope this positivity stays when I go back to work next week although it is going to be hard to fit it all in.

    Keep running everyone:D

    Hi teachergirl!
I've been an occasional runner for the last year (started about sep/oct 09), averaging about 2 runs a week. On the best of months I would've run about 7/8 times, on 'bad' months maybe only 2 (This month I'll be doing 12 and from next month onwards,4x a week so 16) but I used to use it just as a free exercise to keep fitness up for my other hobbies.
Now that I've started training in a more structured way, I find it very motivating. I'm quite excited about the progress I'll be making. :)
